Platinum LIFETIME Challenge ?

Hello

I have approx 650K Marriott Points, and am Platinum, but not lifetime.

Do any challenges exist for a LIFETIME Platinum status ?

I also have Marriott Visa Card.

Thank You !

:)

The requirements for lifetime are clear and inflexible.

A high point total is probably the least indicative qualifier for lifetime status.

Yes. The lifetime challenge is to achieve 750 EQNs, 2 million points.

The numbers (including years as a MR member) made more sense before the lifetime requirements were revised downward a year or two ago.

..for the second time. The originals were a challenge. The current are just too easy IMHO.

Your Platinum Lifetime challenge, if you choose to accept it:

Stay at any Marriott family hotel of your choice tonight and stay non-stop at nothing other than Marriott hotels finally checking out on 5th August 2016. You'll be Plat till end 2017 but lifetime nights will with rollovers clock at 750 at the beginning of January 2017! Don't forget to spend enough for the 2mill points. Assuming you're a plat and make all stays one-nighters at FS (Marriott/Ren/Autograph/JW) choosing points and snag 110k on the 2 megabonuses you only need spend $151/night and with your current balance you'll be at 2 mill by your checkout on 22 May 2016!

Good Luck...

Actually, there's a little-known "stay 392 nights in a calendar year" Lifetime Plat challenge.

There are some who have achieved that and more in a year before (and not even counting roll-over nights either.)

There have been some with long-term stays (usually at an RI) but still would travel to other places periodically. With the 365 nights they received at the RI plus the nights they received when traveling to other places they were able to rack up quite a few nights more than 365 within a single year.

Actually, with credit card bonus nights, this is not unachievable...

Or have just 40 meetings!

If you're a business travelor perhaps, but for us mere mortals traveling only for leisure on our own dime 750-nights is NOT that easy to accomplish in one lifetime.

Then maybe Lifetime Platinum isn't meant for mere mortals. :D

Yeah, but they're giving you Lifetime Platinum. It's not supposed to be easy.

And when you consider that it's really Lifetime Gold that matters most (that is, the jump in benefits is primarily seen at Gold, with Plat being a modest nudge above that), I'd say that Marriott's lifetime levels are quite reasonable.

I'm not a hard-core road warrior and I'll hit LT Gold within a year, after about 15 years of modest activity. Usually Gold on a mix of biz and leisure travel, but never Plat in the pre-credit-card years. I've only been a low-end Plat off and on in the CC era.

The first 8 years of my career I was a hard-core road warrior, but it was 100% Execustay back when those nights didn't count as EQN. I was given Gold status plus a fixed amount of points per month of the rental. If those nights had counted, I'd probably be LT Plat, but at the end of the day it honestly doesn't matter much. LT Gold is the important plateau to reach with Marriott. I'll get to Plat a few years down the road...

A challenge usually give s someone status temporarily with the expectation they will make it the normal way after that.

How do you give Lifetime Status temporarily?
