If nothing else, I can flip the card over and find Marriott's phone number faster than I can with an Internet search.
I'm Gold. Followed the steps and got this message:
Your new membership card will arrive by mail in 4-6 weeks.

Guess I'm an old fuddy duddy, but I like a physical card.

I was wondering the same thing. I think mine has been coming in early February the past couple of years - maybe I didn't make the cut for PP in 2015?
I won't be home for a couple of weeks to check the mail, so if anyone has a PP packet/gift yet, I'd be curious to know too.

I don't think you guys understand the issue. Those membership cards make great windshield scrapers when an unexpected winter event happens while I'm on travel!

Yes, I received a small bluetooth speaker from Marriott last week--nice box, brochure, and new card.

I always give my card when checking in. Reasons —
Don't have to pronounce my name several times, the spelling is rather unusual.
As a gentle reminder of my status, quite often I get "Oh, you are gold, let me see if I can find an upgrade for you".
To double check if the rewards number is on the file, it does get dropped sometimes and then I have to chase my points and nights afterwards.

Nah, leave the card at home:
I figure ~75% of folks don't pronounce my surname properly; for those FDCs (et al.) that ask me quizzically "... right?" after such botched attempts I just respond with "Close enough." and they usually take the hint and just use "Sir" after that. (Unlike many on FT, I couldn't care less about being "greeted by name".)
They always know I'm Plat, 'cause they always bring it up upon checkin, along with that "... loyalty" spiel. However, as this is Marriott, I'd learned years ago to always ask 'cause otherwise all that "loyalty" gets you are some extra points (when they remember to ask me) and usually the same room as a walk-in unless one opens one's mouth to ask for it (and no, "executive King rooms!", no matter how cheerily the FDC says it, is not an "upgrade").
It does? In 6 years, ~2010 nights and umpteen stays that's never happened to me, anyway.

Got mine today, and it came with a Lifetime Plat card. Guess that means I did not re-qualify for Plat Prem (no surprise)
