Expensive Marriott breakfast

Breakfast is on us starting from $94 at select Marriott Hotels

I am on Marriott's e-mail list. Just got this promotional e-mail from Marriott, which at first reading, sounds like they're charging $94 for breakfast. Reading a little further clarifies the promo that they're actually making the breakfast free at a few low-priced properties along with a $94 room.

No wonder they don't want to give free breakfast at CYs :).

Breakfast was €49 at a Paris hotel I stayed at last weekend

You were in Paris & ate at the hotel for breakfast vs a Parisian cafe?

Cheers.

You'd be nuts to spend that to eat breakfast at a Marriott when, for just $50 more per person, you could eat at Denny's.

Not quite. The Euro was quoted at about $1.22 earlier today.

That's probably just about an a la carte hotel breakfast for 2 in NYC these days. I got soaked $65 for a light breakfast for 2 in 2010...

Doesn't sound like it for you, but I've had some great plat-comped breakfasts at Vendome and Parc Trocadero. IMO, better than some Parisian cafes.

No, I certainly did not! We went 100 meters down the road and had a nice breakfast for around €15 each.

:D

But would you have paid 49Euro if they hadn't been comp'd, or would you have gone to a local cafe for less? That was more my point, if not quite expressed well.

Cheers.

For me, at 49E a pop, I would choose the Parisian café over the hotel. But then, I would choose Waffle House over the Parisian cafe.
