Gold Status at Resorts
So I came across the following info in a thread while searching for whatever I could find about Costa Rica:
"So below is of what I have personal knowledge. Please post any additions to this list and I will happily update this original posting. Knowing which resorts have lounges, and whether a resort charges Gold/Plat elites for lounge access will help myself, and possibly others, determine whether we wish to stay at a property:
No Lounge but Comp Breakfast for Gold and Plat Elite
Phuket JW Marriott Resort & Spa
Renaissance Phuket Resort & Spa
JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort & Spa
Los Suenos Marriott Ocean & Golf Resort
Miri Marriott Resort & Spa
The Buttes, A Marriott Resort
Lounge with Complimentary Access for Gold/Plat Elite
Guam Marriott Resort & Spa
San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino (when lounge is closed BF coupons for all staying in Plat/Gold elite's room)
Lincolnshire Marriott Resort in Chicago, IL

However, the thread was from 2008. I'll be staying at Los Suenos after Thanksgiving and was wondering if anyone had stayed there recently and could give an update on their experience as to whether this is still the case that they have free breakfast for Gold members to make up for no lounge. I expect to reach gold via credit card spend and work travel before the trip.

Different resorts do different things. This thread usually has the latest info:

Having said that, the latest update for Los Suenos was in 2010.
* Herradura/ Los Suenos Marriott Ocean & Golf Resort / No lounge but nice managers reception one afternoon during week for plats (maybe gold, too). No breakfast coupons offered. Free wifi for plats and free internet access offered in business center if no personal laptop; 06/10 update
Your report from 2008 said they did offer comp breakfast; report from 2010 says they didn't (but that could have been just a front desk clerk forgetting or the policy changed since 2008 to no breakfast).
