I have a rather expensive stay at the Edition in London booked for late June. In order to get double points on that stay, I need to have two seperate stays in June before hand? I don't have much travel planned in early June... Should I just book two stays locally (at a Courtyard or Residence Inn or so)? Or is only one stay required?

You would need two stays before your big one.

Here's a question I'm sure has been asked but I haven't seen...

If I'm using a free night cert from a previous promo, will that night count towards this promo? I assume not, but I do have one reservation where 1 night will be using a free cert but the other 2 will be paid. When I call Marriott to set this up, usually it ends up on one reservation - will they credit me 2 nights, 3 nights, or 0 nights (because I used a free night) for that stay towards the summer promo?

No, only paid nights count. You should get 2 nights' credit, but mistakes do happen.

Are those 10 extra points per dollar really worth the $200 and effort the extra 2 stays will cost. If you're going to be spending $4K or more at the London Edition, it might be worth it, otherwise not.

Update, emailed MR rewards via the web site form and was enrolled in the 55K offer. Took a day for it to show up in my account.

Perhaps not.

In some of the most recent cycles:
  • There have been no general miles promo, only targeted ones which worked for some people and not others.
  • Those targeted promos were only for a very few specific airlines (unlike the bigger lists of participating airlines back when it was called MegaMiles).
  • Whatever miles promos there were got announced much later than the points promo.

You're sure it's a 55k offer this upcoming cycle? I don't remember that being reported as an available option yet. The wiki only lists:
Offers people have received so far, and links to full Terms & Conditions

How many nights does 55k require this cycle?

(Yes, 55k was around last cycle, but this cycle is two weeks shorter, and that seemed to explain the slight "downsizing" of the maximum offer up to now.)

My bad, I got the 35K+10K promotion for a total of 45K.

My Marriott account wasn't showing any available promos. I called the Marriott Elite line and they reset my page and she signed me up directly for the 35K bonus program.

Thanks for sharing this promo, otherwise I might have missed it.

I looked for the answer to my question but could not find it in this thread . I have a stay booked where the last night of my reservation is June 1 (checking out June 2). I seem to remember reading somewhere that all the nights on my reservation may count and not just the last night. Anyone have experience with previous promotions on stays starting before the official start date but overlapping it?

And one other note....it has been Marriott's response that it is reward redemptions that drive properties up in categories and why so many cat 5 properties are now cat 6 (due to the number of certificates issued in the past promotions). If this truly is the reason for category creep then 2015 should be a whopper year for properties in category 6 to drop back to 5's where they were before and most probably belong.
