negotiated rates possible?

Hello,

I've recently had to make multiple 1-2night/week bookings at the same Fairfield in Ontario, California due to my work situation. That is, I stay overnight 1-2/week in order to avoid a very long drive to San Diego. While I have taken the liberty of booking my stays at months at a time out (currently booked till September). Does anyone know if Marriott would agree to a certain rate based on me staying loyal to them, and as frequent every week? Granted $85/night isn't bad and is great way to earn the next status with Marriott. But, in exchange for guaranteed business, a lower rate? And yes, I did sign for up for the Marriott Rewards CC.

Thank you all for your help.

Back when I traveled for work a lot--repeatedly to the same few hotels, I had some success--with one. Rest told me no. Would be done with the hotel itself. Might as well try.

Speak in person directly with the GM / Sales Manager at the property the next time you are there. You won't get much because most chains are looking for massive commitments, but that doesn't mean you won't get something. Other things to consider are whether giving up points will get you a greater discount and whether there are other things outside of a cash discount, such as laundry / F&B credit and the like which they might offer.

F&B credit at a Fairfield???

But another thing to possibly ask for is whether the hotel can give any extra bonus points for doing all those stays loyally, since the OP is interested in Marriott points. Hotels do have the ability to give extra bonus points in certain circumstances, because for example a few locations (such as the Marriott Fulllerton CA) have programs where you get bonus points for turning down housekeeping (called "you tidy, we reward" in that case); those show up on Marriot Rewards statements as just misc hotel bonus points.

Not sure about 85 to reduced rate, but had a lot of success negotiating from 350 to 150, when my personal life commitments required me to stay a lot in hotels. Repeated this with number of hotels, but please note that I was bringing them revenue at higher rate at low season, getting basically comped for high season rates. It was a win-win for both parties. At the end it all depends on GM/Sales Manager relationship with you.

As a former Revenue Manager, I can say that most hotels won't enter into rate negotiations unless you're talking about hundreds of room nights per year. From the hotel perspective, the time it takes for a sales person to haggle would better spent calling on companies that can produce those hundreds of room nights.

As a brand, there's no incentive for Marriott to give any discount on the rate. They already incentives for frequent guests via the Marriott Rewards Program.

Fortunately, for the OP, smaller limited-service properties that rarely sell out might be willing to negotiate. I grew up in the Inland Empire and still have family in that area. The economy is still depressed. That means it's possible that a small property in Ontario might be willing to offer something in exchange for a few dozen guaranteed room nights.

As other people wrote, any negotiation would be directly with the hotel. Ask for the Sales Manager (who may also be the General Manager).

All comments are very honest, and I appreciate it. While I know the chance is a LONG SHOT considering I'm some lowly Elite Silver. But, it never hurts to try. I would imagine my BEST case would just to give me a locked price, rather than having to hunt every so many weeks for that 85 rate.
