Hotel reward

Don't shoot me for being inexperienced, if the marriott sites says 20000 for hotel reward, is that the cost per night in rewards or is that the amount of points I gain for staying at that marriott ?How do I determine how many points I get for a nights stay?

Thanks
Babs

20,000 is points req'd per night......

you earn 10 MR points per US$ on base amount (some hotel brands provide other then room rates to earn points w cavaet of owned) + any status bonus and PAG option, if applicable....

Thank you, the wording and amounts didn't sound right!

For extended stay properties (Residence Inn and Townplace Suites) you only earn 5 Points per US dollar.

Thanks, I have training in March. The person who attended last month was put up in a nice Marriott. When I checked for rates, the hotel is booked up on my training date , with a Fairfield down the road. I am certainly hoping my room is part of the booked up status !

One more potential wrinkle...

From what you are posting, it appears that whoever is coordinating your training is responsible for your reservation. If the organization coordinating the training will be paying for the room - direct billing - you will likely not earn the points for the stay. If, on the other hand, you will be paying, you will receive the points. Your paying would include a company issued credit card that you use to pay for the room charges. Direct billing means the organization will pay the hotel for your room charges without your having to put the charges on a card you carry.
