Yes, that's it, they plan to not give long term Plats this promo to screw them over.

Seriously, I cannot see any rhyme or reason to who gets what and who can or cannot see it automatically.

Two free nights and 1000 points for a single booking? My weekly 4 night/$500 stay can turn into 8 free nights plus 4000 points? For some reason I find that hard to believe. It is for Cat 1 only?

I'm reading it as 2 free nights after I assume 4 stays...but you get a bonus 1k points per stay whereas most people get nothing

Likely targeted.....

I'm at 48 nights, 100000 points and got the 25K/15 nights, 15K/20 nights deal. Not really all that great.

I'm pretty new in here -- does anybody have any luck calling up and asking for a better MegaBonus deal? I'm crossing into Gold this month, if it matters.

EDIT: In the past I received the Cat 1-5 certificates for every two stays, with a max of two. Those are great! Going to Paris this spring on them.

Reportedly hit and miss but NO harm in calling .....

Mine has posted automatically for quite a while. I'm sure most plats would know to call and ask if they didn't see a MegaBonus in their account. The Megabonus ads all over the Marriot website anyways.

I got the 2 x Cat 5 offer. ^

Agreed. Prior to this year I used to consider MR my default program, but this year I was won over by HH. Because my travel pattern is almost entirely one-nighters, being able to earn top-tier status based on stays rather than nights is quite valuable (hate me if you will - but never being able to settle into a hotel for more than ~12 hours deserves just as much recognition as a higher number of BIB nights IMHO). I've recently considered splitting my business between HH and SPG or Hyatt, as I could likely reach top-tier on both based on stays, but Megabonus is the only thing that keeps me holding on to MR. If only they had a stays requirement too, I wouldn't even think of leaving.

That happened to me too: autoregistered for the same version. I'd like the 55,000 points.

Why? Your version is much more rewarding as the incremental nights earn you 3K per night, whereas your wished for offer is only 2K per night. So, if you hit the 25 night target you'll get 50K versus the 45K I'll get.

It would have made a lot more sense to me if they had incented me to reach their 30 night plateau by earning at least 65K, not the 55K offered. At this point, I don't see the need to stretch for an additional 10 nights on the road for the 14% incremental increase in points when the offer you have been given translates into a 71% point increase per night for you.

As a Plat, the offer they gave you seems like a slap in the face. Where's the incentive in that?

Ugh, I got the 25k/15nights and 15k/add'l 5 nights deal. For years now, I have always received the 2 or 3 free nights at Cat 4/5.

15 nights for one free Cat 5 or 2 nights for one free Cat 5...I am being punished. :td:

Any Golds been able to change their Megabonus offer before? I know Plats have been allowed to...but I have never seen Golds successful at changing.

Nothing yet. Would be nice to see something..

In cases where you are going to blow by the night requirement, it just becomes extra points. Basically a "free" 5k more points.

If you are having to stretch to meet the requirement you may not feel like it's as good a deal.

No, it sounded like the regular one free night after two paid stays offer, with maximums of two free nights, but it wasn't clear to me whether it would be the category 1-4 certs or those for category 1-5. The 1000 points were for every marriott.com eligible booking during the promo period. This is what I understood but it was stated quickly and I didn't want to question the agent who was volunteering the information or ask that this stuff be repeated to me.

ramolnar Dec 18, 2013 9:49 pm

Yes! I got the Cat 1-5 offer again.

It's worth mattress running because the value of a Cat 5 night is more than two stays, like in New Orleans during a convention, or Seoul, or Beijing. (For those of you who did not win, JW Marriott Beijing is still Cat 4.) Since my spring IHG Big Win is not as good as my fall was, this looks like the best winter offer for me.
