Marriott Gold, called in and got offer switched to 1-5.
Marriott Silver referee (via Chase) called in and also got offer switched to 1-5 |
I just registered for this promo. I have a stay January 31-February 1. Does that count as a stay in February? I couldn't tell by the T&Cs or in this thread.

If I have a week stay at a hotel and say I check out after three days and start a new reservation for the remainder 4 days. Will that be considered 2 stays or 1 stay? Since there would be two different reservations technically.
Thanks. |
1 stay, regardless of check in and check out. You can do it 7 times and it'll still be one stay
Move to a different hotel |
Hi,
I'm still looking for some clarification on this. I have stay coming up 1/31 - 2/2. Will this count towards the promotion since one night falls under the promotion? Thanks. ---- Update: Just spoke with Marriott and they said that my first stay should count since one night falls on the start of the promotion. |

I love Flyertalk. I finally called and "just like that" I was enrolled. 2 stays=1 free cat 1-5 cert. Badda bing badda boom. Thanks ya'll for the heads up.
However, I don't see it in my account yet. Guess it takes a bit for it to show up. Hope I don't end up seeing Cat 4 like some prior posters have seen...there's a huge gulf between Cat 4 and Cat 5 these days. EDIT: Ugh...1 day later, they loaded the Cat 4 promo. Debating a call, not that I expect it to do any good... |

So I got the normal Cat 1-4 Megabonus offer (2 stays, 1 free night) up to 2 and signed up for that quite some time ago... then in my inbox today I also receieved a Southwest mileage offer (from Southwest Rapid Rewards email):
As a Rapid RewardsŪ Member and a Marriott Rewards Member, you have been selected to receive an exclusive offer to earn up to 50,000 Rapid Rewards Bonus Points. 1. Register for the Marriott Rewards MegaMiles promotion. 2. Complete at least two stays at any of the 3,700+ Marriott hotels across 14 distinctive brands between February 1, 2014 and April 30, 2014 to earn 5,000 bonus points. 3. Earn an additional 5,000 bonus points with every second paid stay—up to 50,000 bonus points. I know you only get credit based on if you're on points vs miles -- but can I do both in the same time period? I.e. do 4 stays, get my 2 free nights, switch to miles and then earn the bonus SW points? I tried to click the register link -- but it's not showing up for me in Marriott I get the unavailable promotion thing (I did switch my earnings preference to miles)... Am I locked out because I already registered for the nights megabonus? Can I change this some how? I think if I had to choose one, I would pick the Southwest points |
I received a pretty nasty response by email from Marriott when I tried to change my Megabonus offer from Cat 1-4 to 1-5. It was entirely different when I called in -- no problem at all and super nice.
Note to self: Just call next time! |

You may have to switch your earning preference to "miles" to register for the MegaMiles bonus. But you can then switch back to "points" to do the MegaBonus first if you wish. However... I got the same email, switched my earning preference to Southwest, then clicked on register, and Marriott told me I was ineligible. So I'm not sure what's going on, and what the real eligibility requirements are. (The T&Cs don't state that it's for new Marriott members only, the way they did for the UA version.) |

Call Marriott and they'll switch you over to MegaMiles promo.
So Marriott is going to lose out on a bunch of my stays the next 3 months. Yes, I'll finish my MegaBonus, but instead of continuing at Marriott with a MegaMiles as I had planned, I'll go to some other program. Is this what they really wanted??? |
Megabonus not showing?
My promotions are showing "no new promotions". Is it worth a call to Marriott to see why I don't qualify for the spring megabonus?
Has anyone experienced being excluded from a megabonus in the past? |
