New RI & TPS coming to Bangor Maine

There will be a new Marriott Residence Inn coming to Bangor Maine. Plans call for a 5 story structure to be built adjacent to the new "Cross Insurance Center" and directly across the street from the "Hollywood Slots Casino". Plans are for the hotel to open in May, 2015.
In July plans were announced for a new TownPlace Suites to be built next to a Courtyard Inn on Sylvan Road, just off the I-95 Hogan Road exit. Plans call for a "Summer 2014" opening date.
It's good to see more choices coming to the area.

this is great news. ive always been disappointed with the marriott offerings in Bangor when I go up there for the casino and such. The Courtyard is...well, a Courtyard so it leaves little for me in the way of plat benefits. The fairfield Inn is nice and the rehab they gave it in 2011 was a nice touch but again...it is just a fairfield inn.

Never stayed at a townplace suites but wouldnt mind checking it out. I am excited to see a Residence Inn right across the street from the casino especially considering they seem to be breaking away from the typical residence inn model, looks wise and with the restaurant.

Only downside to TPS & RI is the 5pts/$ spend vs. 10pts at FI & CY. But good to have more options in that area.

Cheers.

yea but with the Chase CC, that gives 5 pts per dollar. Plus my stays at marriott are always leisure therefore are always paid for with points anyways. With that said, that limitation isnt a big deal at least for me but i can see why travelers paying for their stays would be upset.

Not everyone has the Chase CC . You're correct that on award stays the points per $ isn't important, but for those that are paying for stays it could matter. But again, 4 options in the area beats 2 options in the area.

Cheers.

If you haven't been to Bangor lately, you would be surprised at the city's improvements. The old Bangor Auditorium has been demolished and replaced by the Cross Center. There are some impressive new eateries. It's actually an exciting time to live in the area.

Meh, i dont care for it to much. its a nice little get away though, despite me living right down in york county. i enjoy the casino and i actually do look forward to seeing if the new arena pulls the acts from the civic center in portland up to there. would love to go see a show and stay right in the new residence inn when completed.
