Redeeming a cert question

If I redeem a certificate for a free night (1-5 summer promotion) at a full service Marriott will I still get free breakfast as a plat?

Normally I don't even eat breakfast but just found out that I am going to take my daughter for one night event in the fall and will need to stay over by by the airport. This is a perfect excuse to burn up a certificate and save a few dollars.

Just wanted to get the details.

Thanks.

As a Platinum member, I've used cat. 1-4 promotional e-certifcates and cat. 1-5 Chase Visa renewal certificates at full-service properties quite a few times. I book the stays on Marriott.com. The hotels have treated me exactly the same as when I pay for a room.

In the past, breakfasts were on weekdays everywhere in the U.S. in the lounge (or in the restaurant when there's no lounge or the lounge is closed). Properties that valued stays by elite members on weekends also provided breakfast on weekend days. Under the new rules, it will be 7 days a week uniformly throughout the U.S. and Canada.

One benefit of Marriott is that as long as the hotel has your Rewards #, you should always get your elite benefits no matter the stay. This includes normal paid stays, reward stays, free night stays, Priceline stays, airline paid stays, etc.

As the others have stated, you should receive all your regular platinum benefits. I'd call the hotel to see if they will comp the full breakfast buffet in the restaurant on weekends though. Not all Marriotts participate (e.g. Boston area fs marriotts as of earlier this year).
