I agree. I just stumbled across that deal a few weeks ago. I wonder how long it will be until the MR points will be increased to get the same thing?

Is it possible to transfer Southwest RR points into Marriott?

lougord99 Jan 9, 2016 11:21 am

No, though it is possible to book some Marriott hotels with Rapid Reward points at poor rates.

Great, and thanks for that.

I don't think I'll be interested in that.....

In general, a lot of hotel programs' points can be transfer into a lot of airline programs, but it hardly ever exists in the airline-to-hotel direction.

You can't transfer Southwest points into any hotel program, and you can't transfer any airline's points/miles into Marriott's program (except for United, with which Marriott has a special partnership called RewardsPlus).

Ultimate Rewards & United are the only conversions to MR.

Not quite the only. Diners Club USA also has Club Rewards to Marriott Rewards conversions at 1250:1500. Though if you don't already have a Diners Club card, they're currently not taking applications for new accounts (and it's unclear if and when they'll restart).

And if you've got time to wait, Amex MR can transfer into SPG (though poorly, at 1000:333), and SPG points are likely to turn (at some unknown ratio) into Marriott points in the future.

WebFlyer has a Reward Points/Miles Conversion Calculator

WebFlyer has a handy calculator for conversions. In some cases it can show you the options of doing more than one transfer:
WebFlyer Mileage Converter
Besides airlines: 600 Hertz Points can be converted to 1,000 Marriott Rewards points

Uh, what WebFlyer has is an extremely outdated calculator. It claims that Southwest still uses credits (that went away quite a few years ago). It claims that AA miles can be converted to Diners Club USA points (that went away quite a few years ago). It claims that Amtrak Guest Rewards points can be transfered to hotels under conditions that went away last year. Etc.

So any program that's been adjusted in any way in the past few years, it's likely to get wrong!

I definitely can't argue with your point that the tool may be out of date with its conversion/transfer rates.

But the the fact that it shows Hertz Gold points as convertible to Marriott points is germane as someone made a very "limiting" comment about which programs allow transfers into Marriott Rewards. And while I don't use Hertz enough to know its program very well, its website right now does mention that 600 Hertz points can be transferred to 1000 MR points.

So it looks like Hertz Gold point transfers is another option for getting Marriott Rewards points. Now whether it is a "good" option or not is a whole different discussion. ;)

Thanks for the discussion points travelers.

It appears that I do have options, I just need to find the right options.

Thanks again, I'll update as I find good choices.
