Why no MegaBonus in May?
 

Does anyone know if there's a reason why there's no MegaBonus in the month of May?

Spring MegaBonus goes until the end of April and Summer MegaBonus starts in June, meaning that stays in May don't count for any MegaBonus. For some reason, I tend to have a lot of stays in May, so I'd be curious to know if anyone knows why May is not covered by any MegaBonus promotions.

There is always a break between promos.

My guess is because they would have two promo's running at close to the same time. RC's generally have a 30k promo that runs from July to October, so we get the Spring and Fall Promo for MR, and then the RC promo comes along in between those two.

They always seem to correspond with the days I have a large number of nights scheduled :(

They are obviously monitoring when nickfromct stays at Marriott so everyone including nickfromct move your Marriott stays to another rewards program during the month of May. Thank you.

Did I miss something? Nothing in my email and nothing listed on my promotions page.

Nothing announced, but no reason to expect them to change anything this year.

Graduations probably are a reason, as well.

Marriott always has a break between promotions
 

Marriott always starts a little later, runs a little longer because of the later start of their promotion when compared to say Hilton. They do not start on the first day of a quarter for instance.

Stay tuned and Marriott will annouce something and lets see if it is as Pathetic as what Hilton decided to do after their gut wrenching devaluation. Marriott is OVERDUE for changes to their Frequent Guest program and needs to make some serious changes in some areas.

Most hotel program take a break between promos! Have you never noticed that before, or are you simply new to hotel points program promos?

Marriott Rewards takes breaks between promos. IHG Priority Club takes breaks between promos. Choice Privileges takes breaks between promos. Club Carlson takes breaks between promos. Best Western Rewards takes breaks between promos. Hyatt Gold Passport takes breaks between promos. WyndhamRewards takes breaks between promos. And SPG takes breaks between promos.

There's only one hotel program that I know of that doesn't usually take breaks between promos (or at most only a handful of days): Hilton HHonors. But that's certainly not the norm.

And where in the world did you hear that the next MegaBonus starts in June? (Or are you speaking of how it worked in previous years?) Not everything works the same year after year. For example, last year MegaBonus and MegaMiles promos only partilally overlapped, allowing people interested in both to use one while the other was taking a break. But this year they synchronized MegaBonus and MegaMiles so they both run pretty much the same range of dates. So IMHO that alone proves that you can't use last year to predict this year.

I will ve very, very surprised if the next MB dates are different than last year, or the year before, or the year before that, or the year before that ......

Then again it may go the way of the BOGO. :eek:

Unexpected Bonus
 

Since I asked why MegaBonus doesn't cover the month of May, I should point out that I'm quite pleased to see that the new Unexpected Bonus covers half of May.

Megabonus started May 15th.
