I never realized this until now. Difference in Concierge vs Normal Roooms

I generally notice my day of arrival the hotel will pre-book me on the concierge floor. Up until now I thought the only difference was a couple bottles of water and a bathrobe, but I just realized they often offer more.

Example

Hotel 1
Concierge floor - 42 inch TV
Regular floor - 37 inch TV

Hotel 2
Concierge floor - Living area/sofa bed
Regular floor - no sofa bed

Hotel 3

Concierge floor - 300-350 sq ft
Regular floor - 250 sq ft

I have never really paid attention before. I just thought it was kinda neat.

Not necessarily the same case in every hotel. Example: JW Marriott Houston.

Have stayed here several times. The "regular" rooms on the lower floors that I have received were larger (separate couch/coffee table area) than the concierge level rooms I have had (basic Marriott room with one chair). Also, the few times I have been upgraded to suites were not on the concierge level.

Let me add Hotel 4:

Concierge floor - 27 Inch Non-HD CRT TV
Regular floor - 32 Inch Flat Screen HDTV

(BTW, this is still true at the San Antonio Marriott NW at I-10 and 410) - However, this hotel does have one of the best lounges I've been to.

I wish that were true at the many places I stay but it's generally not. Are you saying the entire floor's room has these enhacments or just the room you were given. Usually if there is a living area / sofa then they are calling it a jr suite.

I'd be happy with the CL floor concept if they would bring back the mouthwash, make sure there is a refrigerator inside and override the thermostats from the annoying limits/energy saving modes...

In my experience, it depends on the hotel.

For me, the big difference is a concierge level room means a shorter walk of shame (bringing a plate full of cookies back to the room!)

OMG I stopped staying at the JW in Houston and swapped over to the Marriott on West Loop because of the size of the rooms. I have never see a room so small. I guess that explains it. >.<

The concierge rooms are always a different price than regular, but that's all I have noticed.

From what I was reading it was the entire floor. The one with the sofa bed actually had sofa's in all rooms, but the concierge had beds in the sofa.

I can think of four different room layouts I have had at the JW. I think if I had had the CL room the first time I stayed here, it probably would have been the last.

I only stayed at JW in Houston once and I got a corner room and it was rather spacious.
