Do Points Stay Count
Do points stay count towards your total number of nights? If so, I'll reach lifetime Gold Thursday night ^

Kind of a seperate question but somewhat relevant. Do points purchased on marriott.com count toward total points? I assume the answer is yes but would like confirmation before I decide to top off my account to get me closer to lifetime status.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I re-read through that threat and it is indeed mentioned that purchased points do count towards lifetime status.

As others have pointed out already, stays on points currently do not count.
However, I seem to recall hearing a rumour that Marriott is considering changing this. Does anyone remember more details about this (whether it was just a rumour or something indicated by Marriott).
I hope I didn't just start a rumour...

Why CAN'T Marriott change their rewards program to allow nights booked/stayed using points to count towards yearly total nights AND lifetime nights?! I commend Marriott for allowing Ritz-Carlton nights to count in nights' totals, but rewards stays should count too. Starwood allows rewards nights to count. And while I'm comparing...SPG did a free resort nights promo 2 years in a row (stay 2/3 nights and get a free night to use--similar to Hyatt). Meanwhile, Marriott keeps the same ole magabonuses. I understand one promo is a free night promo (2 nights max--SPG had no max)...to a Category 1-4 hotel. This works out great--if you want to take your family to a Fairfield Inn somewhere! Marriott...STEP UP TO THE PLATE and improve your rewards program!!!!!

Also, MVCI ownership night used to not count, but now do.
