Suites at Courtyard?

I'm trying to accomodate relatives (total of 5) in one room and leaning toward a 2BR at Residence Inn. Nevertheless, I've found a Courtyard that is in a closer location that has a 2 BR Suite as listed below. Anyone familiar with what Courtyard considers a "suite" with separate bedroom and how it would compare to the Residence?

WEEKEND RATE * DBL/DBL SUITE (2 BEDS W/SOFA SLEEPER) LIVING ROOM AND SEPARATE BEDROOM

I don't think this is a 2 Bedroom suite, but just 2 double beds + living room area. I haven't seen one of these in Courtyard, but the Springhill Suites I have seen with "separate" living room, only had a partial wall separating the 2 areas. You might be better to stick with the Residence Inn.

In my experience the suite has been 2 standard rooms together with a door connecting them. One room was the BR and the other a LR. Space was good and comfortable but overall was just OK nothing too elaborate but I think it was not much more expensive than a regular room.

They tend to be more sparsely furnished than comparable RI rooms, but I've stayed in several and all have been two rooms - a bedroom with one or two beds and a "living room" with a sofabed and usually a wet bar. The separating doors have varied from standard to a slat-type folding door.

You would be much better off at the RI. The at CY's are usually about the same as a One-Bedroom at a RI. Just usually a little smaller and without the kitchen facilities.

I have stayed in a few CY suites. Sometimes I was upgraded and other times I needed a separate room for a meeting. They vary widely so you should call the hotel to find out more information on the room.

I'd go with the RI. Can't beat a full kitchen. You won't get that at Courtyard.

When traveling alone, I prefer the CY hotels over RI primarily due to only receiving 1/2 of the MR points when staying at a RI. If you do not mind the 1/2 points, then RI would be the best choice because of the full kitchen. A CY suite has a small frig, microwave and extra sink.
