Renn Pitt
Burning my W24 cert at this property. Can any Pitt folks recommend any activties for a young couple? Also, looking to do some xmas shopping there....
TIA |
It's a nice property with a good view across the river. You may have to venture out for shopping, though.
There is a Lord/Taylor downtown and a Saks, among others. Check out the theater around the corner. Otherwise, head to the Shadyside area (Walnut Street) for the stores. |
If you are into clubs and bars, the strip district is a short walk or even shorter taxi ride away. Shopping is decent downtown, with Lord and Taylors, Saks, Kauffman's, etc.
Downtown is so small you'll hit it all relatively quickly. If you like watching loser sports teams, we got two of those in action too right around there http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |
Activities - Strip District, South Side, Shadyside.
Shopping - Downtown, Shadyside, the malls (South Hills, Ross Park, Galleria) |
One of my favorite properties. It's very well done and the staff is great. If you have the B1G1 Elite dinner coupons, the restaurant is quite good. It has become one of the two top hotels in downtown.
If you are there on a football weekend, the place will be packed. They don't give elite breakfast coupons on the weekend, but do have free in-room hi-speed internet access if you are on the concierge level (may want to bring your own cable). The wine bar is over-priced in my opinion, but check the mini-bar in your room. If it has a split of Pine Ridge chardonnay, grab it. It's a bargain at $11. Don't use the valet parking. It's $18/day. Use the parking garage directly across the street from the hotel entrance. The cost will $5/weekend (but doesn't allow for in/out at that price-you pay $5 each time you enter). |

Station Square on the other side of the river has a bunch of restaurants and a good view of the city. Head to the top of the mountain and have a seafood dinner at Monterrey Bay. The top of the hill is basically the same height as the city buildings, so you have a pretty neat view. The place is somewhat pricey, but it's a neat thing to do in PIT. You'll need a reservation, but it is definitely a touristy thing to do when in PIT. I'm sure a concierge will be able to show you how to get there.
