Way of making up Points

Hi,
I was looking to sty in a Marriott 7* for 2 nights. Unfortunately it is not part of the 33% fallsavers discount. I am only allowed buy 10% but that still leaves me 5,000 points short. I have no amex points etc. Is there anyway that I can make up the remainder.

Thanks in advance

Pick up the Marriott Visa, make a purchase through Skymall, get ATT for either your cell or home service would be a few ideas.

Thanks for that, but I am not a US citizen so the visa card and at&t option is not avaiable.
I will look at skymall, but I' sure I will need to buy something big to get 5000 points.

10 points per dollar at skymall I believe.

Yeah don't really fancy spending €500. If they would only let me buy the points. I hate this 10% rule.

Don't suppose anyone has 5,000 points spare that I could say are my partners and transfer them.

I will pay $50 for them. Cheers

Try www.Mypoints.com.

You can earn points by buying Mariott Chk that you can use when you stay for food/service.

That was my option too...by some points.

Thanks. I will look into marriott cheques. I still think they will only let me buy so many points.

One time I purchased something from Sky Mall and before I received I cancelled the order. For some reason they never took the points back. I think I got something like 4400 points this way.

Regards.
Joe

That sounds shaky to me at best, dishonest if that is the intent more likely. It sounds like you're in a jam and might possibly have to pony up for the rooms. I'd suggest that if you do that, go find the thread on discount codes and at least get the best deal.

Your reward requires 65K points. Doing the math tells me that you have 54K. I suggest you call Marriott & just try to buy all 11K--hoping that the rep ignores or is unaware of the 10% rule. Failing that, get permission to go negative. It helps if you can point to an upcoming money-paid reservation.

Go on e-bay and buy them!

Yeah I tried ringing them and got a really nice french guy. He said if he could do anything he would. System would not let him process more thatn 10% of the points.

I never asked about going negative. I will ring up a couple more times and see what type of people I get. Play dumb and hopefully get it.

I just had a quick look in ebay. All I can see is Marriott Bonus Bucks. From what I can gather these are only gift certificates. AS the room is $550 per night I would need a huge amount of them. Would be easier fi I could get the points.

Does anyone know of a way to buy extra points, even on ebay.

Thanks for all your help...

If you have other upcoming reservations at Marriott properties they may let you go negative (overdraw your account) with the expectation of more business in the near future. It's certainly worth asking.
