Springhill Suites Marriott/Seattle, WA

I recently stayed here, and had initial reservations as some places on the internet label this a 2-star hotel. However, I didn't want to spend too much, the new Marriott on the waterfront was $$$$$ and I wanted to be downtown. Given my silver status I preferred to stay at the Marriott...

I was pleasantly surprised. For 99/night in the summer, it was a mini-suite (all rooms are this), with 2 TVs (perfect for mom to watch one thing and me another http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif , separate lounge area for desk and sofa away from beds. ALSO...
--Free broadband access
--Free breakfast (and not just continental either)
--Free newspapers (seattle times, USA today)
--Free shuttle to space needle, convention center and westlake center (shopping area, also close to pike's place. Pick up too!

Only down side was the forced parking valet fee of 18/day. Otherwise, I found it a very good value and the staff was nice.

So don't let the 2-star fool you, if you also see this label. I would recommend it.

I have this property for $80 a night for three nights towards the end of October. The website stated there isn't any free breakfast at this property... Do they have a happy hour though? How is the location of this property

In the evenings, join us in the Lobby Lounge for Happy Hour and Dinner or order from our Dinner Room Service menu. ** ON-SITE PARKING IS VALET ONLY @ $18.00/Nightly. NO COMPLIMENTARY CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST AT THIS LOCATION!**

Yes, there is breakfast. I also remembered that on their web site they stated they did not, and was pleasantly surprised that they did... I think it was a new thing, based on comments from previous guests. Anyway, there's enough to make you feel full (make your own waffles w/ fruit toppings, bagels, cereal, etc)

I think there is a happy hour, but only M-TH or M-F. Didn't go.

As for location, for walking its so-so. There was not anything I wanted to walk to right outside the hotel. There is a subway and starbucks across the lobby entrance. But they have that free drop-off and pick up shuttle which is a big plus. Its by the Hwy 5, so ask for a room away from the freeway.

AA-flyer, thanks for the information. I figured for 80 beans I couldn't go wrong breakfast or no breakfast but all I ever want is coffee anyway. Since I won't have a car the shuttle will help and thanks for the heads up on the room request away from the FWY. As for happy hour, I'm there Thurs to Sunday so I may make one LOL, like I need it anyway

thanks again
