If I make a reservation on the Marriott website for a friend, but enter my Marriott Rewards Platinum number, will this be recognized, seeing that the name on the reservation won't match the name on the MR account?

It's perfectly fine to reserve rooms for someone else using your MR #. I've done it for my parents' anniversary stays in the past with no problems.

You will not earn elite-qualifying stays, but you will earn points on anything charged to the room.

The only way you'll be able to earn elite-qual stays is if you personally checked in to that room.

Will they enjoy my Platinum benefits (room upgrade, etc.) ?

I or the sales manager of the Marriott hotel involved can book rooms for events and place all the rooms under my name with individual assignments on the second name allowed in the reservation......

this has worked great....

If the employee or event participant wants the points they can put their own MR# in the profile, it doesn't bother me. Better to get someone credit than to lose them.

48-Hour Platinum guaranteed availability at all Marriott hotel brands, except Marriott Vacation Club International and Horizons by Marriott Vacation Club.

Can I make a reservation for my buddy as a Platinum and knock someone out of a room?
