honoring published rates

So I found a very cheap corporate rate at a Marriott (cheap enough that I think someone forgot a '0'), and so I booked it on the Marriott website and confirmed with a credit card. Does anyone have any experience with booking these types of rates and whether or not Marriott will honor them?

Thanks,
BillJ

I have never had a problem with a Marriott-family property honoring a rate for which I had documentation and appropriate credentials (like a AAA card). Sometimes I don't get that rate when I first check in for some reason, but I get it eventually after producing my paperwork.

Just continue to keep your eye on your reservation confirmation.....I've found errors like this ($13.90 for a room that I know was supposed to go for $139) and somehow, mysteriously, my confirmed room rate was changed to the higher amount without any notification from Marriott.

As an aside, I've never used an erroneous rate at Marriott (and I have caught a few, especially in Orlando), but I have called hotels on occasion to point it out and been told "of course we'd have to honor our mistake".

Thanks, this is the type of rate that I am talking about. I would still be interested if anyone has actually stayed under one of these rates.

I booked a room at the Marriott, NY Financial District once, the rate showed up as $99. It turned out the rate was $999 which was some code for "do not sell any rooms", or something like that - explained by the front desk supervisor who initially refused to honor the $99 rate, and offered rack rate of $199.

I would not expect a hotel to honor a $9 rate (or some such) as it is obvious it is an error, but I felt an offered rate of $99 was in order and should be honored.

After showing a printout of the email confirmation with the $99 rate the manager very reluctantly agreed to honor it. Had he done so with a smile up front he would have gained a lot more good will from this platinum guest.

I totally agree. Last night, the NY Financial Center had $99 rooms available!!! (It's a special Sunday-night rate.) Nobody could possibly know that such a rate was an error. It should have been happily honored.
