Housekeeping trying to get in early (8:45AM)
Maybe because I was tired this made me more upset than usual.
But last night got back to the hotel late and because I had moved my morning meeting I wanted to sleep in late. One night in hotel, so I was checking out today. At 8:45AM, knock on my door. Housekeeping to come clean up the room. No I did not have the do not disturn sign, because I did not think I would need to put it out since I would be getting up in time for breakfast. This was not the first time. The night before same situation (one night in hotel). I was on a con-call and sure enough at 9AM, knock on the door. Is this a new Marriott policy? I would not expect housekeeping to come around to rooms until at least after breakfast. Very upset? Is it me or has anyone else had this happen and if so did it bother you as much? Socrates, I have the name of the hotel manager of the hotel I stayed at last night. What is the format for a courtyard manager? |
I agree that it's annoying, but there's a pretty easy fix -- your do not disturb sign.

Uhmm, yeah, I've been at hotels where they start cleaning rooms as early as 7am. Do not disturb sign is the easy answer!
I leave my room before 6:30 am to go to work right now and I still use the sign, every night.. [This message has been edited by pitflyer (edited 06-19-2003).] |

Marriott gives 1 mailbox but you could have multiple addresses, so in this case [email protected] would be the mailbox and should work if it's Marriott managed or the franchisee is using our email system, but [email protected] might be setup to redirect to the [email protected] mailbox or [email protected] might also be directed......but the hotel probably wouldn't have both redirected addresses [This message has been edited by socrates (edited 06-20-2003).] |

I don't know that it is just you that is being grumpy.
They knew 1) you were checking out that day and 2) You had not checked out yet What were they going to do if you were just out of the room for an early meeting then were gong to come back to the room, shower and get ready for the trip home? Was housekeeping going to service the room twice? Seems like a screw up on their part to me. |
Expecting constant communication between a maid and the front dest is asking alot.
As has been mentioned above several times---put the "Do not disturb" sign out and if this doesn't work "Get Grumpy"! Asking a hotel to assume that they know everyones sleep habits, and daily schedule is asking a bit too much, I think. Returning to a room @ 5 or 6 P.M. and still not having it cleaned is a reason to get "Grumpy". Having the vacuum banging on you door while they're cleaning the carpets in the hall, while chatting with each other @ 7 or 8 A.M. is a reason to get "Grumpy". Listening to the T.V. in the next room for 24 straight hours is a reason to get "GrumpY". Getting upgraded to a "Dipsey Dumster View" is a reason to get "Grumpy". Being required to call M/R's 2 or 3 times to get a stay recorded is a reason to get "Grumpy". Never getting an upgrade is a reason to get "Grumpy". Knowing that you're never gonna get that upgrade is a reason to get "Grumpy". Asking for a possible upgrade, upon arrival, and receiving a response that indicates "beggers never prosper", is a reason to get "Grumpy". Having lost one's health and learning that my wifes days are numbered is a reason to get "Grumpy". But not putting out a "PLEASE, Do not disturb" sign, and getting knock on the door is a reason to look in a mirror and get "Grumpy"!!! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif |

Somehow, the upgrade didn't seem all that important." |
