Experience with Renaissance Derby/Nottingham?

Nothing shows up on any of the review sites I've found - does anyone have any experience with this hotel?

A bit late, but might be of use to others....

Functional but highly underwhelming would probably be a fair assessment.

I suspect the property was built in the 1970's. Very small rooms, badly ventilated, pleasant enough staff but on balance you may be better off staying at the Travel Inn next door. Rooms will be bigger and this probably explains the aggressive pricing at this place (£56 a night for this weekend).

There was a small pool, restaurant was fine, bar area was full of smokers.

Also, it's pushing it a bit to say this hotel is near Derby IMO

I stayed there for one night last year and found it to be very pleasant. Our room was of typical size - not massive but hardly poky either - the staff were absolutely superb and nothing was too much trouble.

I stayed there a few weeks back, not a bad little hotel, the name is a bit mis-leading though as it is a fair distance from both Derby and Nottingham!!

The room I had was not too bad and the food was very good, all in all a nice stay.

If you are looking for the full on Marriott experience, you will not find it here, however the staff are friendly and the beds are comfortable so what more do you need?
