Renaissance Antalya
Any opinions on this hotel? Foud a great last minute offer I might consider if this hotel delivers. How does it compare to the Sheraton Voyager in Antalya?

Sorry I can't give you further info, but I wanted you to know that this hotel is listed as one that accepts the "Entertainment 50% off Discount." |
Any recent reviews on this property?

Any Flyertalkers have experience with this hotel? They also are promoting an All Inclusive option. Trying to figure out where to go for my Honeymoon May 2012. Not really interested in Costa Rica or Carribbean.

Hoping someone has stayed here and can give a review of the property & nearby food or activity options.
TIA |
Actually was just looking to book this for Late June. Not sure it will be too hot then.

prop located in Beldibi district, but try nearby Barbeque Rest (fish, as well as meat) and/or Mavi Terrace (kebabs) located right/left of prop, respectively...........

I recommend folks read the reviews on TA. They don't sound good at all. I would wait to see some Positive FT reviews before visiting.
|
better choices are whatever the old Sheraton is called these days or staying at the Dedeman, which is a local Turkish chain.............of these, stayed at both for tours north to Pammulke and prefer the old Sheraton.......

I stayed at this property for 2 nights 2 years ago, and its a disaster.
completely overrun with european/grumpy russian package tour families, completely isolated, terrible beach, absurd captive market prices, ugly un-renovated small rooms with tube tvs, gross building that hasn't been upkept since the 70s, completely unprofessional staff (i've worked and studied in turkey, they are all just 18 year old college kids doing summer jobs that they couldn't care less about... i am friends with a bunch of these types). Avoid like the plague...Marriott should kick this out of the group; its a disgrace. |

I wish I listened to the comments here. But the reviews on tripadvisor and holidayceck are so good that I thought I give it a try. I honestly don't know why this hotel has such fantastic ratings everywhere, maybe because the majority of the crowd here are package tourists who wanted a cheap getaway. It is absolutely horrible, a disgrace for Renaissance and the entire Marriott brand! If you associate ANY standards with a 5 star hotel and the Marriott brand: forget them!
- Website says rooms were renovated in 2008. Impossible! The furniture is complety rundown and worn. The worst is the bathrooms. Absolutely disgusting and nasty. I didn't even want to walk on the floor without shoes on. - The hotel is an all inclusive hotel. First I wanted to use Marriott Cat4 certificates here. But then I found out coincidentaly that bookings with points only include the room which is not mentioned anywhere. At arrival they would charge you an extra 35 EUROS per person, if you want or not. Note that the room rate we ended up booking is 85 EUROS all inclusive for 2 on booking.com. So using points or certs is horrible value. - The food at the main restaurant sucks. The restaurant is loud and has the athmosphere of my companies cafeteria. They have restaurants that you can eat at for an extra charge, but you can only book them the day before you want to eat there between 9am and 3pm. So if you arrive at 5pm like we did, you are forced to eat at the horrible main restaurant for at least two nights. Second issue: the other good restaurants only have less than 15 tables (note: hotel has more than 300 rooms!) and if you don't call at 9am sharp you're out! I could go on with othet items that are really bad, but since interest here has been lmited for this property I'll leave it for now. Let me know if ayone has more specific questions. Edit: one more important addition: bring lots of cash! Because you can not charge anything you buy at the stores in the hotel to your room. Even the hooka guy who serves the hookas in the hotel only takes cash! |
Wow. Thanks for the update. Good to know.
Cheers. |
