Stay Anytime awards--availability
I just tried to reserve a "Stay Anytime" reward and found out that they were "sold out for that property."
There are *definitely* still rooms available at the hotel. Only the Rewards rooms are booked, even with the 50% point premium. Maybe I'm naive, but I always thought the "Stay Anytime" awards meant I could have a room if ANY were available. I guess they are capacity controlled. Not a huge deal, but I was surprised. |
Well, that does not seem right at all - the whole idea was that by using 50% more points you could get a room.
I would check with another agent - this is nonsense. |
I agree. Something's amiss. Call back and try again.
From the Anytime Rewards page: "...you can spend just 50% more points for “Stay Anytime Rewards” that allow you to override blackout dates and other hotel restrictions to get the last room available. As long as the hotel still has a room available, it’s yours! To make a reservation using Stay Anytime Rewards, please call 1-800-MARRIOTT." |
Thanks for the replies. Just saw them now, and I already booked a paid room at another property. Decent rate, so I am just going to save my 70k points.
Just for fun, I will try Marriott again and see what happens. (Travel was for April 4 and 5 in Charleston SC, which is a blackout wkend.) |
