Bait and Switch
 

I recently booked an award reservation on-line.

I searched by location and picked a hotel. Picked my room and made a reservation.
They mailed me coupon for a two noght stay at a category 1.

A week after completing the stay., I see that I incurred extra charges for the stay.

I was in an 'upgraded' room, a suite. It was at Town Place Suites. Imagine, a suite is an upgrade in an all-suite facility.

Several frustrating calls later, the answer is: the suite I reserved required upgrade certificates as well as the 2 day cat. 1 cert. You would think that if I reserve based on rewards, I would get whatever cert is required to cover the room. I had the miles for more if I needed them. If it wasn't really a cat 1 facility, I would rather have stayed next door at the Renaissance.
