Marriott Dalmahoy Scottland

Ok, guys, this is one first-rate hotel as far as Euro hotels go. It's built on one of the best and oldest golf courses in the world. The lobby is in an old country mansion, with the rooms built in new attached buildings. First rate gym. The rooms are nice, western in size, very new, have towel heaters (I love those!) and full marble baths. There is no lounge, but I got free breakfast coupons to an excellent breakfast. Anyone staying in Edinburgh, I highly recommend it. I stayed there vs. staying in the city. It's about a 12 pound cab ride to the city center. Mainly because I need the nights. I'm now 2 short from platinum requal. This is the first year in 5 I have done less than 125 nights!

While agreeing it is a fine hotel, I think you are a bit of the mark to claim it is one of the best golf courses in the world.

One of the best courses in the world might be a bit strong, but the course did host the Solheim Cup in the '90s. That ain't all bad.

Great hotel and great service.

One morning I was in a hurry and just asked for a coffee and corissant or two to take away at the breakfast restaurant. I was given a coffee and a selection of pastries and refused my invitation to charge to my room.

For your information there is a public bus service from just outside the hotel grounds to right into Edinburgh city centre (Waverley railway station). Cost around £3 return.
