We stayed there during the renovations. The property was unspectacular at the time, but had wonderful staff and a great location. Search for several comments in this forum.

I stayed there last year (2001), and I was not overwhelmed. It is a fairly simple property, and I'll just leave it at that.

I considered the Marriott for my next weeks travel, but choose the Sonoma Renaissance. It looked like a much nicer property on line. If you would like a review next week let me know and I will let you know how it was. Book a standard room, but hope to get upgraded to cottage with my Plat status.

I stayed at the Sonoma Renaissance last summer and it was gorgeous. I was upgraded to a 1000 sq ft cottage.

Checked in last night. I was Upgraded to an incredible 2 room Suite overlooking the pool area with my platinum status. Not only did they give me the arrival gift (1/2 bottle wine and Cheese and crackers), but a full bottle of wine (Kenwood Chardany). The hotel has a great rustic feel. I would recommend to any Marriott Elite!

jjansen,
I just saw in my Marriott newsletter that came yesterday that the Lodge at Sonoma is offering 2000 bonus points for a stay from 10-31-02 to 12-31-02. I couldn't find this on the website but it was also mentioned in Inside Flyer. If you don't get the points automatically make sure you inquire. This property looks really nice. |

They did it without request. When I checked in the attendant told me I had messages. After he looked into it, he said the messages were for him. Evidently, the manager wanted to make sure I got an appropriate Platinum welcome. It must have also told him to present me with the bottle of wine.
I loved the service, atmosphere and location. The only let down to me was the Restaurant. It was average and pricey. There are some great places just down the road. Girl and the Fig was great and also loved the italian Restaurant Della Satinas? I am only going to make gold this upcoming year and will miss the perks. |
The Renaissance Lodge in Sonoma is incredible. I was automatically upgraded to a Cottage room suite as Platinum with a huge tub and a seperate shower. There was a mention of these tubs in the American Way magazine about 2 years ago (thats why I went). I recommend this hotel over the Napa Marriott, although its usually more expensive. The restaurant had a great breakfast but I have not tried any other meal there. They spa is quite nice as well. With the extra points in consideration, its well worth a stay for at least one night here.

jjansen,
Thanks for the feedback. I'll be staying at the Monterey Marriott later this week and hopefully my gold status will get me a bigger room. I'm still shooting for platinum status by 12/31. Thanks, BA Fan |
