quaint/romantic cat 4 in Northeast?
Any ideas? I'm looking for something quiet, secluded, lodge-y north of DC but south of Boston. If that doesn't work, what do people think is the very best cat 4 (in terms of luxury) systemwide? In the U.S.?

It's a cat 5, but the Mystic Marriott Hotel and Spa in Groton, CT is fantastic. It just opened last year. My wife and I stayed a night there last summer and thoroughly enjoyed it. The room was large and the bathroom had a separate whirlpool tub and a glass enclosed shower. The best part is that the hotel is off the beaten path but, depending on what you like, you're still only minutes from either downtown Mystic or the casinos. From there you can also make the short trip (45 min or so) to Newport RI which is nice anytime of the year.

Renaissance Del Monte Lodge (Cat 3) in Pittsford, NY is incredible. Its right on Erie Canal and at a very romantic spot although it is out of your desired geographical location. Breakfast in the restaurant (including weekends) if you are Plat (maybe for Gold also). Excellent furnishings in the room which have an "old" feel but it seemed recently renovated. The restaurant has great food too. Not the usual Renaissance Bath & Body Works/Bio soap/shampoo either, but something better. Best of all, this hotel has a small hotel feelingIn my opinion the best Cat 4 would have to be the Renaissance Chicago Downtown. Let us know what you decide.
