Anybody have any recent reviews of this property ?

Only that I TRIED to stay there last summer Wed-Mon on points and contacted them in advance about a suite possibility since it was a rare pleasure trip with kids. They wrote back saying they could move us into a larger "parlor" room midway since they were selling out during the work week. I declined but thought it was a nice customer service gesture.

it is a decent property. i prefer the marriot in downtown san jose. the restaurant on site, parcel104 is actually one of the better options around that area

I stayed there weekly for about 9 mos in 2012-2013. It was nice enough, with them giving me my preferred room nearly every time. Even though I was there during the Plat Arrival Gift devaluation, every now and then they'd have a platter of something waiting for me upstairs when I'd checked-in.

Yeah, I just wish it'd been open on weekends, but they said they didn't have the business to support it then.

I love this property, but I'm there on pleasure with my son while my husband works in the area. It is HIS favorite property in his territory when we are not with him, as well. Here are the pros and cons (stay there regularly):
Pros: best lounge I've seen - easily can have an entire dinner there: apps, soup, salad, entree, dessert. Awesome pool - can also order food and drinks at the pool. Starbucks. Two full service restaurants on site - PLUS the lounge. Breakfast is serve free to elites in one of the restaurants. Two full service bars with friendly staff. Friendly staff all around. Tennis courts, basketball, area for families to "explore" and the best part - a smaller elite lounge on the first floor that has free PAC man video games. :) some restaurants near by. Great america also close (walking distance). Balconies (small, but fresh air in hotels is hard to get), lots of space to "hang out", great gym
Cons: everyone is platinum so no special treatment. No upgrades. Not much around the property - 2 or 3 restaurants within walking distance. Needs a little update, but not bad. Expensive, but great weekend deals, gym is always packed.

Pretty much what she said; spot-on (plus she gets kudos for spelling "pros"/"cons" correctly! :D)).

... and seriously, this. Intel, Broadcom, Yahoo! and a host of other tech companies are all right in there, so it's top-heavy with business travelers during the week. I was there often enough that at least I'd get the room I liked blocked out for me most of the time.

This is the only hotel where, as a platinum premier, I was pretty much sniffed at regarding status. I got a mid-floor room in their "marquis tower", went back to the front desk to ask if there was anything on the actual concierge lounge floor, and was told flat-out that my entire tower (half the hotel) was platinums or platinum premiers.

Is the lounge open on the weekends? If not, what do they do? You know the drill. Someone report back & I'll update the exec lounge sticky. Thx!

Cheers.

If nobody reports before me, I'll be there this weekend (4/19) and will report then. But back in 2012 I know it was closed Friday 12:00-Monday 06:00(?). Forgot what they did as a remedy.

Thanks - look forward to your report. Of course you're staying over Easter weekend so it might be different. But if you could ask what their policy is if the lounge is closed (ie, lounge open for brekkie only, closed entirely & brekkie in restaurant, if brekkie is cont'l or full & if cont'l what's the upcharge to full) that would be appreciated.

Cheers.

I was there Sun. 2/23 and can confirm they had the lounge open for breakfast on that day. I didn't ask if that was always the case, but I would assume so.

Stayed there this last week, 4-13 to 4/18.

I stayed in the south tower. The room was nice, clean and well appointed. I had a little balcony that had a screen door which made it nice to allow the fresh air in while I was out all day.

The lounge opened at 5:30pm on Sunday. Breakfast each day was served in the sports bar and based on the crowds it was a good thing because the lounge definitely would not have accomodated that many people. The evening's fare in the lounge was good and worth the visit.

The staff here was outstanding in everyway from the valets out front all the way through to the housekeeping staff.

I will definitely make all efforts to stay here again each time I have to return to the Santa Clara area.

Thanks for the update! I'll also update the stickey to reflect that breakfast is in the sports bar daily.

Cheers.

Here's the little laminated card they give you explaining the breakfast/CL situation.
