Number of people in room?
 

I generally just book rooms for myself -- but I'm planning a family vacation and got to wondering...

1) Does the number of people in the party affect the price of the room?

2) Is the "max ppl 4" (or whatever) a limit on how many they'll let stay? Or is it an indication the number of pillows available so you'll know to ask for an extra?

I too am curious to find out the answer to this. I am planning a family vacation to Eastern Europe and a lot of the Renaissance properties (Prague, Vienna, Salzburg) and the Budapest Marriott say max of 3pp. I am curious if it because the rooms only have 2 singles or 1 queen. Does anyone know if these properties have two double beds where 2 adults and 2 kids could sleep.

I did find out from another flyertalk member that the Budapest Marriott does have rooms with 2 double beds.

Quite often for European hotels, the price increases with an increase in the number of adults.

2) max 4 ppl means the room can comfortably sleep only 4 ppl...if you want 5 or more you'll have to use the floor (quite often there are fire codes that don't allow rollaways in double double rooms) but you're welcome to ask for more pillows and bedding anytime

In the US, extra people usually isn't a big deal.

In Europe, if it says MAX 3ppl, believe it!

I've had good luck when traveling with my family by calling the property and confirming what I was getting. The hotel in Luzern, CH was so nice. They recommended I book two rooms, one for us, one for kids. It was more expensive but the extra room and privacy was worth it!
