Points Without Stay?

Can you earn points/miles without a stay? Specifically, for restaurant and spa charges?

don't believe you can do this. it would be great; but each time i have tried to do so, it has been without any luck whatsoever.

if you ever find out that this is possible, we would all love to know.

regards

dave

No...you must be a registered guest

I have never tried as I thought this to be the case, but it does really stink.

Starwood gives credit for any restaurant/spa etc charges as long as they exceed US$10.00 without any need to stay in the hotel. Wish Marriott would do the same as I frequent one of their restaurants every month or so without a stay...

Any lobbyists want to take this issue up with Marriott?

Bummer.

My wife and a group of friends are going for a day at the Spa at Camelback Inn. Sure to be a hefty tab, so it would be nice to at least get some points/miles.

BTW, on a similar outing to a Starwood property, we were denied StarPoints. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

When renewing our health club membership at our local Marriott, we always book a room for one night in order to get the points for the club membership. You may decide that Camelback rooms are too expensive as a trade-off for the number of points you'll garner, but that would be a way to get the points for your Spa expenses.

Thanks. I had considered booking the room, but it is high season here and the rates are running $429+ http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/eek.gif.

If you check-in to the hotel for a "day" use room and then room charge everything you WILL earn points
