Breakdown of elite membership?
 

Hello,

With the recent promotions Marriott is offering to comp Silver status, I was wondering if anyone has best-estimate membership numbers of each MR elite level with respect to total membership, i.e.

Regular = xx%
Silver = xx%
Gold = xx%
Plat = xx%

This could help put the true value of Silver level in perspective, knowing that Gold/Plat levels aren't easily as comp'able.

They do NOT comp PLT and I hope they never do.

PLT for last 3 years the hard way...

Oh a person after my own heart! My thoughts exactly! I've been bashed by others for saying it, but I'm glad I have an ally. Comp the lower tiers and earn the higher.

I third that with actual stays...

I hate to admit it, but several years ago, before Marriott consolidated their programs, I was 'renewed' for Platinum for 2 years even though I didn't stay the 75 nights. (More like 50 nights each). I had earned Platinum for the previous 4 years and then got 2 years comped. Once they merged with Courtyard and Fairfield, I was bumped back down to Gold as I should have been. I didn't think it was fair to all of you who earned it the hard way, but I wasn't about to complain. Thanks to the double-nights promo I made Platinum again this year though.
