new cards
Has anyone who qualified for a higher level in 2001 received new cards yet?
|
I haven't. Was Silver for most of 2001 and qualified for Gold in September. Nothing in the mail yet.
|
You will not get any new cards until after March 2002 ... per Marriott, they are not sending out any new ones until the current double promotion ends.
Clarification: If you requalified for the same level I have been told you keep your current card until March. (Who knows anymore ! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif) [This message has been edited by SimonC (edited 01-24-2002).] |
As mentioned on various other threads. You don't need the "card". Your status is noted in your profile and upon check-in the hotel knows your level. But if you are in doubt, the next time you check-in ask.

I was Silver in 2001, but got a Marriott Visa in December, making me automatically Gold through 2003. I got the card about 2 weeks ago. Must be a different process, and it's kind of a shame that the "real" Golds have to wait longer to get the card.
Having said that, the card itself *shouldn't* mean anything. Until you run into one of those clerks that seems to know zero about Marriott Rewards. |
I recently became Platinum and my new card arrived today. The outer envelope said "Your 2001 Membership Materials Are Enclosed." Inside was my new Platinum card attached to a letter dated 1/7/02 welcoming me to the Platinum level. The card expires 1/03. Also enclosed in the envelope as an exact duplicate of 'Welcome to Elite Membership' pamphlet that I received 18 months ago when I became Gold. The only new item was an Associate Recognition Card for reporting sevice above and beyond.

I am intrigued to know how they will phrase the letter. The Gold letter said "as someone who has spent 50 nights with us blah, blah". What do they say to the people who haven't spent fifty/seventy five nights but who still qualify? |
I was just a Membership Rewards member (NO STATUS) last year and I just received my SILVER card in the mail. I need another 25 stays before the end of March to Make GOLD (actually 13 under the DP/DN promo).
rmccamy, did I understand you right? If I am a silver and get the Marriott Rewards Credit Card, I am automatically upgraded to GOLD. I have only 6 nights of business travel between now and end of March. I would rather get a credit card for free than trying to cram 7 extra nights of hotels stays in 2 months. GOLD is tempting me... Precious... My Precious... =-) |
>>>I was Silver in 2001, but got a Marriott Visa in December, making me automatically Gold through 2003
Can you please confirm this? I also received a Marriott VISA in December, but I don't recall that it made me gold through 2003. (I know in the past that the Mar VISA was supposed to be an equivalent of Silver level...) |
Qualified for Gold in November, Plat in December, received my Gold card two weeks ago, my Plat card this week.
|
I requalified for Gold in Nov, and thanks to the double nights and extending the qualifying period to 3/31, I'll hit Platinum this coming week.
Haven't rec'd diddly in the mail regard the Gold, didn't expect to see anything until after 3/31. Perhaps I'll see my Plat before 3/31, but if I don't, no biggie, I know it'll show up in the system as such. ------------------ Not sure where I'm going, but I'm gettting there fast. |

I have 2 weeks of vacation stays planned and we're planning one large dinner party at a Marriott in 2002, so I figured the Gold status would be better to have than more bonus points. |
