Delta Airlines discount code?
I stumbled upon the [proprietary] code somewhere here on FT, but it is returning rates of $89 at the f/s Marriott where I would like to stay when the property is $149 per night without the [proprietary] code.
Is this a code that can be used by Delta medallions/customers, or is it exclusively for employees? I read the fine print, and it doesn't say anything about needing to be an employee or having to show proof of eligibility, but nearly half off just seems too good to be true. |
Call the Marriott ressie line, give them the name of the property, the code, & ask them to review the rate rules. If it doesn't say employees only & Marriott ressie agrees, then you should be able to use it I'd also have a print-out of the rate rules showing no id if challenged (and possibly a back-up ressie somewhere).
When I plug that code into dummy bookings at 2 hub cities, the rate rule DOES show 'be prepared to show id' etc. Cheers. |

Sorry, I didn't realize that is supposed to be a proprietary code. It came up in multiple threads in the Marriott forum. The mods may want to search and edit a few other threads/posts if that code isn't supposed to be public, as I found it here on FT... :eek:
Obviously someone who is actually entitled to use the code would already know it. Otherwise someone would have to do a search on discount codes in the forum to pull anything up, which is my guess on what you did. BTW - publicly available codes are ok to post in the appropriate forum, but the mod will usually delete proprietary codes. Getting back to your original question: As I mentioned before, when I plugged the code into cities where the company has a presence, the rate rules state you need to be prepared to show i.d. when checking in. Please be prepared to show proof of eligibility for your rate (such as a membership card, corporate or government identification card, or proof of your age). BTW - when they say membership card, they're talking AAA, AARP, ENT, not Delta Medallion. If you found a property that didn't have that in the rules, I'd run it by Marriott ressies to get a confirmation that you're ok, or print out the rate rules to bolster your case & also have a back-up ressie in case your argument doesn't hold sway w/ the front desk. I think certain rates like the government rate & airline rates the hotels check more for id than others. Cheers. |
Thanks for the info... I did a google search for delta Marriott discount and it found several FT hits (maybe just multiple pages in the same thread) and that's why I asked here.
I've never used a corporate code except for one I negotiated with a single property, and the codes listed in the sticky didn't seem to work anywhere. I was reviewing the terms on the Marriott app, so perhaps it doesn't include the full terms and conditions. I guess the corporate code thing is one I'll continue to pass on unless I get a promo email with a code intended for me. :) |

I've never accessed mobile, so I'm not sure what it brings up. But you'd think they'd put the rate rules in on the mobile site. Wouldn't be fair to customers to find out there was some type of restriction (ie, cancel 2 weeks in advance) that they didn't know about, simply because they accessed mobile vs. full website. Check the rate rules. If it doesn't say id required, you have a better chance of making your case that you thought it was for Delta Medallion vs. Delta employee. Make sure you have a copy of the rate rules w/ you when you check in (and just in case, have a back-up ressie). You might try calling the ressie dept & ask them to look at it. If they say in their records it says employees then you'll know, but if they say it doesn't actually state that, again you have back-up when checking in. One time I was plugging in (publicly available) codes at the LHR Renaissance. LPR brought up one that was 50GBP. It said 'corp rate'. I called Marriott & said "which corporation". They looked at it & said it doesn't say. If you've got a business card, that will probably work. I wasn't asked & we think it was just a local promotion rate that that property offered. LPR at the property often brings up different promos/rates, depending on the season. Cheers. |
