I like and only stay at the Marriott Long Wharf when in Boston because of the executive lounge. Of all the Marriotts I have stayed at, this is perhaps the most friendly staff I have encountered. The breakfast spreads consist of breads, deli meats and cheeses, hard boiled eggs, pastries, cereals, fresh fruit and 4 or 5 varieties of juices. The evening fare is 2 or 3 varieties of appetizers, vegi and cheese trays followed by cakes and ice creams(Haagen Daz). The lounge also overlooks Boston Harbor and all its goings on.
The folks at the KC Country Club Marriott were also super friendly when staying there last year.

I haven't stayed at a huge number of properties, but my two favorites are:

Baltimore Marriott Waterfront
Seattle Marriott Waterfront

Thanks for bringing this thread back to life. People's opinions may well have changed in the 16 months since the previous posting.

Also has great views from the 30th floor of either the Bridge or the Opera House. But what makes it really special is the attentive and personable staff. :)

Sydney has more than one Marriott. Is this reference to the Harbour Marriott? If so, I'm particularly interested, because I will be staying there in July 2006.

Renaissance Atlanta Downtown

The great "Ricky" runs the Club Lounge here, and run it he does. He's there morning and night, and personally introduces himself in a charming way to everybody. He takes digital photos of repeat guests to that he can insert them into a display plaque when he knows they will be visiting. (I declined). He constantly refreshes the food and drink, which are of very good quality. Breakfast includes fresh fruits, a variety of cereals, baked goods including bagels and muffins, cream cheese, variety of cheeses and cold cuts, and a hot dish (scrambled eggs and a sort of egg McMuffin, the two mornings I was there). Ricky makes sure everything is displayed in an elegant fashion, including the nightly deserts, which he puts out at the same time as the late afternoon snacks. The lounge is open even during off-hours for drinks, coffee, snacks, etc. While the hotel charges for high speed internet in the rooms, free wi-fi is available in the lounge, if you can figure out how to hook up to it.

And, don't forget, if you're really hungry late at night, and Ricky has already closed the lounge, there's always the Varsity, right across the street.

I stayed at the Harbour Marriott in April/May of 2005. The concierge lounge there is excellent. The staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the entire area.

Sydney Harbour Marriott Hotel at 30 Pitt Street is an amazing hotel. And they have a great C-lounge to boot. The staff there is excellent and really go out of their way. Food there is good too, and free alchool in beer and wine form.

I stayed in about a dozen different Marriott's last year, and two definitely stood out:

Tampa Marriott Westshore. I stayed there for three weeks last summer, and Danny, who is TRULY a concierge, does a fantastic job of running the club. He knows local restaurants, makes reservations, and gives discounts and coupons. He also was organizing movie nights (with popcorn!) and poker nights. It turned 'just another hotel' into a very enjoyable stay.

The Irvine Marriott has a nice lounge with fantastic food in the evening. They have a hot entree, such as chicken, lamb, beef, or fish, and a hot vegetable.

He said, "well, we have this computer here (at the attendant's desk), but it's not for guest use."

It's always fun to be made to look like a moron. I told him explicitly what the hotel literature said, and that perhaps they should cross that fact off if it's not true.

It would be a great benefit of lounges, I think!

I was there a several weeks ago and the attendant was so intent on using the computer that the honor bar became quite dishonorable. The food is great.

My vote goes to Rita (concierge) at the Omaha Marriott. She makes you feel right at home there - she's pleasant, friendly, and makes staying away from home a nice experience. On my last night there, she got me a bottle of champagne. ^

I would agree with the OP.. the Sydney Harbour has the best lounge I have ever seen. The food is some of the best I have ever had and the views are awsome.

Agreed, Rita(with the German accent) is wonderful. The gal that works breakfast is splendid as well.

The Omaha Marriott is not exactly paradise but the entire hotel staff overall is awesome making this Marriott one of my favorites.

Coolsprings Franklin, TN outside Nashville. Excellent lounge and excellent Concierge Faye Jones.

I love this property!

The Marriott Plaza Hotel in Buenos Aires has the best presented executive lounge I have seen anywhere in the world.

The best I've been in is the Bangkok Marriott Resort & Spa. Absolutely fabulous lounge with free beer, wine & cocktails. Extremely attentive staff and real hors d'oeuvres direct from the kitchen chef.

I strive to achieve Gold every year for the privelege of being able to use this lounge with my wife.
