I have used the 425,000 point award a lot to get frequent flyer miles (I can never use the Marriott coupons). I have turned the Marriott certificates (10 night stay) about 9 out of 10 times, and always get 106,250 points for each of the 10 certificates.
Hope this helps. |
That is a lot of times to turn over the award...good job!! But the return on recycling the certs is pretty bad...only 10,625 points per night...you would get a lot more "value" by using them. But,on the other hand, you're recycling them to cash the award again for more FF miles...so that takes some of the sting out of it... I personally usually cash the 200K award around 3 times every 2 years...you must give Marriott a TON of business because I know I do.

Whoa ... the point value for ONE ten day award is 106k? That would mean that the actual cost of the 240K AA miles is only 425K - (106K x 2) = 213K MR points?
With the seven day award being worth only 50K (if that number listed in this thread previously is correct, which seems terrible for seven days to be 50K and ten days to be over twice as much), even the 200K award only costs 150K for 120K AA miles, still not too bad ... And that's just for the miles ... |
we've been saying that all along.

Thanks to all for this info on the #713 award. I had been saving up points for a trip to Australia next year and had planned to use 100,000 for 7 nights. I can easily use 200,000 points to get the week plus 120,000 AA miles.

IS there any benefit for ME to get all those FF points INSTEAD of the hotel stays?? I know this is a personal opinion and also subject to travel patterns, but would those extra miles in my account really benefit me? I just have no clue -- advice requested!! |
