Bahamas Marriott - Cable Beach
During the first week of Feb I stayed at the Marriott hotel - took the family there for a weeks vacation.
The staff were very pleasant, very helpful, but I was very disappointed with the hotel and the condition of the facilities. The best way to describe the hotel would be "tired". It is in need of a major renovation. I would only rate it as a 3 star hotel, not a 5. Another problem was the food, or the quality of it. During our 7 days there we ate there only twice .. . very poor. Other guests we meet at the hotel also agreed with us about the food, etc. What do you expect when you can book a reward stay there with only a couple week lead time. |
We also heard the same negative comments about the Marriott when we stayed right next door in the Radisson Cable Beach in Aug '99. Guests there were disappointed in decor, food, lack of beach on the property and the shabbiness of the casino. It's too bad things haven't changed, because I have lots of Marriott points and was hoping to take the kids to the Bahamas soon. Guess we'll bypass this dump. Thanks for the heads-up.

I walked through the Radisson Cable Beach property and was impressed at how clean it was, the facilities and the beach area. The Radisson is where I would stay - NOT at the Marriott.

Not to mention the cost of everything being riduclous and also tax on everything!!!

Hope I won't get in trouble for posting in the wrong topic...but the all-inclusive at the Radisson was reasonable then, taxes and tips were included, the food quality was excellent for an all-inclusive and the beach was great. No surprises there. Guess I'll have to save up the AmEx points and try to stay next at the Atlantis instead. Wish we could get past the Bahamian hotel rules of 4 to a room, since we are a family of 5.
