Is there a level beyond Platinum

Do any of you Marriott High level travelers (past or present) know if there is a level beyond platinum. I had my 75 nights by May last year and will by the end of march this year. What is the incentive to stay at a Marriott after this? I'm better off keeping my Diamond intact at the Hilton after I reach my Platinum level at Marriott? Unless of course there is another level to shoot for.

Anyone have any info on something like this. I guess this question will also be posted on Hilton as I'll make their 60 night stay by the end of the summer also.

There needs to be a extremely high level to reach or travelers will just look elsewhere as the benefit to continue to stay at these chains is severely diminished.

I've written Marriott on this several times and was told "it's under consideration">>> I also stay at Marriott's more than 200 nights per year. I just keep turning over the 200K and 425K awards...keep` adding the miles....

What I would do when I reach the Plat level is to stay at other Hotels and try to reach top Elite with them. Currently I doubt that these Hotel programs will have 4th tier Elite levels. So this is the solution for me http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Don't stay at other hotels just to make elite levels..when you look at it monetarily Keeptaking the 200K award and be done with it....bank it...use it....whatever you wish...it's worth a great deal...more than you're gonna get by staying at other hotels.

TrojanHorse:

No, P is it. Still, Marriott is the best. Hilton is OK. By all means go to Hiltons!

Mind you, I THINK THERE SHOULD BE PLAT+l, but someone's participation for a year or two don't exactly get it... Marriotts generally are good to Pistachios as a rule (we LOVE being Pistachios) - but maybe Marriott could be better, i.e.

Dear Santa,

For Christmas this year, I wish Marriott would imitate the airlines, and create a new tier of Honored Guest, or maybe call it a separate category, similar to the Million Mile Clubs. (Yes, I hear that the airlines are degrading the value of these, but forget that for the moment; this is my fantasy.) Perhaps they could give those who qualified for it lifetime Black, or rather Gold (that still sounds funny to me) benefits. They could call it the Scheherazade Level, for A Thousand and One Nights. Marriott has been Good to us, and we have enjoyed the benefits of being Platinum, but Santa, we have been Good to Marriott, too. We have been Platinums since the program began in 1984, and that represents a lot of money we've spent with them over the years - money we could have spent elsewhere or not spent at all. Since one of these years our lifestyle will change so that we won't be doing quite that much travel, I think this would be a wonderful present.

Yours truly,
GG

P.S. My husband doesn't think Marriott has any incentive to do this, but I think they'd have the same one as the airlines: we would still have a reason to book Marriott preferentially in the future. Perhaps they'd have to set the bar a lot higher than 1001 nights, but they could figure out a top tier number and I bet some of us would shoot for it.

I would shoot for it what ever the number was, I really don't want to go to Hilton, but then again, what else do I have to shoot for? Similar Service (marriott gets the nod though) similar rooms, similar upgrades.. although I did take note of the 200K award, and that is a good reason to stay. Still this becomes a game and once I hit plat I feel that I've won so its time for the next game.. ie.. Hilton

As a multi year Platinum, I am very happy with the services at Marriott... Even when I go over the number of nights... It is worth it to keep staying at Marriott as they seem to recognize my business sooo much more than the competition where I also have premium status... Hilton is by far the worst!

I agree with ORDFLYBOY. I like the Marriotts, so why would I change after I make platinum? Why shouldn't I stay and enjoy the benefits of platinum ?

I think Marriott would be better served by following the airlines, and instead of offering a formal level beyond platinum, just add a few significant perks to the 150+ night per year people. I thought they already did that, in fact.

I don't know about that Phil...I stay 200+ nights per year...not much different from the 75 nighters...the only thing I can say is that they seem to squeeze me in for reward redemption..I've cashed in a lot of rewards and most of the time I'm a little late in calling...but some how guest services will find room a few days later...Yahoo!!! Maybe an unpublished benefit??
