Marriott Points from Hertz
 

I have heard that there is away to get Marriott points from makeing Hertz rentals without even staying at Marriott.
Does anyone have any info on this?

I just noticed that now they offer only 500 points. Previously leisure rentals would get 1000 points and business rentals would get 500 points. When did this change?

I've always only gotten 500 points for my Hertz rentals http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif. I've been getting MR points on Hz rentals for about 2 years now, on a mix of leisure and business rate codes.

Perhaps they dropped from 1000 to 500 points about 2-3 years ago when they watered-down all of the frequent-flyer mileage awards.

For a short rental (1 or 2 days), the Marriott points are still about the best way to go with Hertz. For longer rentals, I take the Hertz ZE1 points (which get redeemed for free rental car days). If the Hertz points don't interest you, look for a FF double-miles promo...seems like they've always got a couple going at any given time.

I have rented exclusively from Avis over the last three years, but have a Hertz rental this week in Albany. What do I do to get the Marriott points? Show my card at Hertz or what? Thanks for alerting me to this.

They dropped it down to 500 MR points on April 1, 2000. Prior to that it was 1,000 MR points for each rental.

Darn shame, too. Because I had a TON of rental between April 1 and Sept 1, 2000.
