Free cert for friend...

I know this has to be discussed on this board, but I went through quite a few pages and have not seen any discussions regarding this question.

I am using a couple of my free category 4 certs in August. I was awarded a couple more and would like to find out if I can book one for the same night we are there for a friend and her husband.

I know they are typically not transferrable. But if I am there, and it stays in my name, do you think I could do this? I would love to gift a room for my friend and what a great way to be able to do this.

Please forgive me if this has been discussed ad nauseum.

Thanks!!!!

Dawn,

I am so relieved that this is not an asked and answered question.

Yes, I do believe you can as you are still going to be at the hotel albeit in another room. Inamuch as I beleive that you can earn points on more than one room booked in your name so long as you are going tot be at the hotel, I think your situation follows that to allow you to use the free cert.

The best way to confirm this is to e-mail the Marriott Concierge and get this in writing and/or failing that, contact the hotel and ask them yourself if you still have any question.

I think any response herein from one of us might be spot on, but you could always find a hotel that is mis-informed and without written assurance from Marriott Concierge or the hotel, itself, our responses still may lack any real weight.

I have also seen in a thread that this is acceptable to do.

Thanks...

I suppose it will be one of those "depending on what representative you get on the Marriott Plat line."

I will try it tomorrow...see what happens.

Thank you!!!!
