Borrr-ring!
It's great to reap the benefits of being faithful to one program, as we all know. But I must say that the same-ol' same-ol aspect of Marriott is starting to get to me. There was a brilliant comment by Travellin_Man in another post regarding one Marriott location: "It is...what can I say...a Marriott. I'm glad they put windows in the rooms or I couldn't tell the city."
One benefit of travel is the opportunity to see new sights and experience new things. I'm so bored with the whole pink-'n'-green interior scheme I see over and over again. What do you think? Do you like the consistency? Or do you need a break today from Marriott? |
tulane,
I think that's what most hotels want to be; your home away from home. So if you're staying "home" all the time, shouldn't your "home" look the same everywhere you go? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif On the other hand, while I like a little bit of variety, I really don't mind the good ole Marriott interior; because they actually look okay to me (love the mirror above the headboard). What I'm sick of is the Courtyard interior, which I think looks like crap in several places. OK, so CY isn't really up there with the big guys but if Hilton Garden Inn is Hilton's answer to Courtyard, I must say they did a much better job with it. Oh, did anyone else notice the new Courtyards that are being built now have ugly-yellow walls?? What a color scheme. I saw two already (in Emeryville and Brisbane, CA); 10-storey high. Tallest CY I've ever seen. |
As a Platinum I'd rather have consistency, even if the color scheme is a bit drab (unless I'm booked in a jacuzzi suite, my goal is to spend as little time as possible in the hotel room!)
I haven't stayed at a Courtyard in six months; almost forgot how they look like. I've stayed at a Hilton Garden Inn two weeks ago. Pretty drab to me, too. Marriott's designs are OK IMHO. |
I personally enjoy the consistency of the Marriott's. I know what to expect for room service, the lounges and have found that the interiors are not always the same actually.
And a comment for the jacuzzi post above, haven't you heard what type of stuff is stuck in those tubes? I'd stay away if I were you! |
