PLATINUM REQUALIFICATION

I am Platinum Marquis until 2/00 - I know I don't have nearly enough nights to requalify for it - however, I am Platinum with Starwood Preferred thru 2001.
Does anyone know (or think) Marriott will honor this?
thanks.

I sincerely doubt Marriott will honor your Starwood status. I asked for a similar bump when I became Gold with Hilton, and they said that they did not offer complimentary upgrades, but did award 5,000 bonus for goodwill. <g>.

Dunno if the thinking is similar to the airlines but most airlines will not comp their highest level. Similarly, Marriott might not comp their highest level especially when it is relatively difficult to get to.

I don't think they will comp you to platinum. However, who knows as they say, nothing ventured, nothing gained. You probably need a VERY good reason why you stayed at Starwood properties instead of Marriott properties.

Good Luck!

I don't think Marriott would comp you just because you were Starwood Platinum, but you might be able to requalify by meeting a short-term goal? Several years ago, I was not able to maintain black level, but they gave me an offer to stay X times during the next 3 months to maintain. I believe it was approximately 1/4 of the annual goal.

I would offer something rather than simply asking them to comp you the level.
