Marriott in Paris
This post is also in the General Flyertalk forum:
Has anyone stayed at the Marriott in Paris? It seems to be quite expensive for a Marriott! Is it worth it? |
It really is in the middle of everything. If you can afford it and/or have enough points to burn I'd probably do it. I had the points, but decided instead to stay at the Courtyard -- kind of out of the way but a good deal -- new hotel. Rooms small for an American but from what I understand good size for Europeans http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I stayed there last summer(on business of course) and think its definately worth it. Its right on the Champs Eleyses (sp?) and right in the heart of all the action. Its the only place I would stay if and when I go back to Paris.

Thanks dg1 and jamflyer! I will be staying there then. I really like the Champs Elysees area!

I am a Club Marquis Black member so will be able to use concierge lounge etc. It's Paris so I would imagine the food to be good right jamflyer?

I don't recall the food being anything special at the hotel. But the concierge recommended 6 Bosquet which is an excellent family run, low-priced, gourmet French restaurant just across the Seine on Bosquet. Of course there are plenty of other good restaurants in the area. Just stay away from the tourist places like Planet Hollywood, etc.
The Marriott is just around the corner from my favorite Parisian hotel, the Lancaster. When they are full, I'll stay at the Marriott. |
I can confirm the recommendation of 6 Bosquet restaurant. A friend introduced me to it in January, and on a trip in May another friend said it "may have been the best meal she's ever eaten." Granted, she doesn't get out as much as most of us, but still a good recommendation. Our total (including tax & service) was only about $50 each, but that only includes ½-bottle of wine (albeit a good one). The only drawback: they allow smoking (this is Paris, of course), including cigars. I counted 6 lit in the room at once. Fortunately, we were on dessert as the smoking started, so left quickly.

You are so right about the smoking! That was my only drawback as well. Outdoor cafe's rule!
