Marriott promotions...as often as IHG?
 

Hello everyone,

I am quite new to Marriott rewards. I was a Diamond with Hilton for 4 yrs, and I got tired of Hilton so I went with Priority Club. I earned Platinum quite easily and now that a person can receive Platinum status just from having the credit card, that kind of turned me away from Priority Club since the status is nearly not as commendable.

So now I am starting to stay with Marriott for work and I even opened up the Premier credit card (70k pts yeah!).

Here's my question: Does Marriott Rewards usually have "many" great pts promotions like Hilton and most noticeably IHG? It seems lately like IHG is prretty much giving away pts these days lol

**I did see the stay 2 times and get 1 free night promotion with Marriott.

Marriott always has 3 main bonuses per year. I track the maximum point offers in this thread:

Instead of the points offering some people get the stay 2 get 1 cat 1-4 offering for the same bonus period. If you get points but want certs or get certs but want points you can PM Marriott Concierge or call Marriott Rewards and get switched to their other offer.

In additon to the Big Three there are occasional targetted offers like Stay in 2 Fairfields and get 5K!

Thanks for the information! I personally would want pts over the cat 1-4 cert. About how many pts does a cat 1-4 cert equate to?

Also, how do I message the Marriott Concierge exactly? I can call as well, but just want to know both options :)

Marriott has about the same number of bonuses I'd says as IHG if you're not following the IHG promos on FlyerTalk.

However, no other hotel program has no many bonuses posted on FlyerTalk (many of which many people can use, even though most were never publicly announced by IHG) as IHG. The thing is that IHG mails out promo codes to various people, and yet doesn't restrict most of them to only the people they mailed them to. Ie, they have "very lightly" targeted promos that many people can use, and in fact "stack".

Since no one hotel program has the same concept of "very lightly" targeted promos (that actually work for everyone and their uncle in most cases!), no other hotel program has as many bonuses for those who read the FT threads on bonuses for each program.
