Hi Guys,

I recently had my Hilton Diamond status matched by Marriott. I will have to stay at a hotel for the next 45 days starting April 15th, which i would prefer to be with the Marriott chain.

But I see that there are no current promotions that i can signup for and it looks like there wont be any till June. I'm mainly interested in maximizing my points.

Is there something that i can sign up for or should i just stay with Hilton and accumulate points there?

Looking to hear your opinion and what you would suggest i do?

April 15-30 should count for the first 2012 bonus. (Q1/Q2/Q3/Q4 don't really adequately describe Marriott's three bonus periods, should we call them trimesters?) May is traditionally a no bonus month, then the second bnous starts in June.

Do you have to stay at the same hotel the entire time?

It looks like i need to have registered by March 31st for the Q1 promotion. Is there a way to sign up now?

I don't need to stay at the same hotel for the entire duration.

With Hilton's Q2 double points or double miles you may have pulled the 'tier status match trigger' a little too quick.

Marriott has a great Mega Miles or MegaBonus going on through April. So, if your travelling is very soon (like before the end of April), then you could take advantage of that promo; but you stated that you wanted to take advantage of points, so hotel certs or miles may not be of interest to you.

In that case, Hilton sounds like it would be more of an interest to you at least until June or the next promo for Marriott comes out (then you would have to decide if the promo is what you are interested in or not).

You should read the MegaBonus Q1 promo info. (if you stays are in April).

If you only have a few days in April and you are starting points from scratch (i.e. 0 or very few) then you will have to decide if the move is worth it since Hilton has a fairly decent double promo and the double dip as well.

I just assumed that since i have a long stay coming up, it would be easy to get the 18 nights done for the Platinum challenge now.

Q1 Megabonus points would be great but i cant find any link to signup for it. Can someone point me to it?

Maybe the 2Q promo will give Platinum members the opportunity to earn buy-one-get-one-free weekend certificates

We have a great Q1 and enjoyed the 2 free nights and Mega miles.
Waiting for the Q2 promotion, does anyone can share the internal message?

Let me try predict, because this is tough:

1. For non-elites, every two nights earns one free night up to level 4 (are then any good one's left following the recent systemwide devaluation?). Maximum is two free nights.

2. For elites, something along the lines of 25,000 bonus points for 20 nights, plus addtional 15,000 points for 5 more nights.

Wow--that took me about two days to think through. Does anyone want to bet that something wildly different will emerge from the highly-paid creative geniuses at Marriott Rewards?

That's the current mega bonus that expires 4/30. What will the next one be?
