I found 5 CYs in the DC Metro area that still offer breakfast buffets. CY Winchester Medical Center, CY Manassas Battlefield Park, CY Gaithersburg Washingtonian Center, CY Potomac Mills Woodbridge and CY Washington Capitol Hill/Navy Yard. The last one has a Courtyard Cafe that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.
I wasn't really sure about the CY Tysons Corner Fairfax. They have a new lobby and a Courtyard Bistro, but it appears on the website that they still have one restaurant open for just breakfast. That CY is rather large, and the hotel's owner (used to be Chevy Chase Bank, don't know if Capital One still owns the hotel) also owned the Holiday Inn next door. They used to have dinner service at that CY from the Fleming's restaurant at the Holiday Inn next door. |
There are two CYs in Overland Park, KS. One has already converted to the Bistro. But the Conference Center CY has not. I talked with the manager there the last time I stayed. They are scheduled to convert early next year.

Do we want to start a thread titled "Courtyards w/o Bistros/Have Restaurants"? I can PM the mod which of the posts in this thread to move to the new one. Might make it easier for those who prefer the older ones vs the new Bistro ones. Thoughts?
Cheers. |

According to the manager I talked with at the CY in Overland Park, he has held out as long as he could. But come early next year, he had no choice but to get the "upgrade". |

I'm not sure its really worth it. I do believe that all the CYs will be moving to the Bistro model over the next year. So any list we start, will change fairly soon.

Cheers. Granted it might be short lived (a year) but maybe worth it. |
The OP mentioned the $22 double crown. I got hoodwinked a couple weeks ago with a $19 double Goose/tonic. Too bad I noticed when going back to the room and I was 3 drinks in. I will not drink there again. The food is mediocre, average at best, but if you are in BFE it hits the spot. I love CY otherwise and willl visit if I have a roomate or just feel social and there is no bar/restaurant nearby. I say that as I sit in a CY in Simi Valley and after a meeting this afternoon I will head next door to a converter Applebee's to a HOWIE's (God help me) for the "local fare". Of course Pre-Gaming in the room beforehand and currently.

I'm so glad I found this thread!
I hate the Bistro...especially in hotels that have had great restaurants! The Courtyard Portland (OR) Downtown/Convention Center has resisted so far. They do have some of the Bistro items...but still have a full bar with reasonable drink prices, and a restaurant with freshly prepared food rather than just the Bistro fare. I hope they can stay that way! Unfortunately the Courtyard Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport has been assimilated. They HAD a wonderful restaurant but went totally Bistro. After a couple of stays and having Bistro food...I went across the parking lot and am now staying at the Fairfield where I get breakfast for free and I go out for dinner. Three people lost their jobs when they made the change. They don't have to have a chef or waiters...just someone who can pour a beer and put crap in the toaster oven. :td: |
