hotel see current status?

I made reservations for London hotels in March when silver. I now have gold. Will the hotel see the gold when I checkin or the silver when reservation was made?

Yes

Yes, they will see your current status when you check in, providing they can decipher the MR codes. I was PP last year and many properties did not recognize that as being a Plat level.

One word of caution is your rez may not get updated from when you booked the room, so if you have the time, call in and ask them to refresh the rez to reflect current status and give the property a heads up so any potential benefits can be preprocessed for you.

FYI there is no way to 'refresh' a GNR in MARSHA as the airlines can do to a PNR in their CRS's...the most current status will display automatically in MARSHA (note: if the status changes within 72 hours of checkin it might not automatically display)

So does that mean that when it's time to do their prep work (i.e. pre-block upgrades) that they will automatically have your status as of at least 72 hours ago or do they access a static list already in their local system?

This of course is correct, however if the hotel uses a house-system that interfaces to MARSHA (i.e. Fidelio which is very common in Europe), they may miss any status-update once the reservation is confirmed. A colleague recently had that experience (status changed to Platinum in October 2011, yet at Ceckin for a stay in January reserved back in September he was thanked for being a Gold-member).

Greetings - Dirk

MARSHA is the master database, the local systems communicate with it - MARSHA in turn communicates with the MR Database with is live (ie always updating)...the hotels receive a guests status as part of the GNR

correct but Reservations does not have access to local hotel systems so they will be unable to assist, the hotel will need to access MARSHA

Allow me to rephrase... If status changes from the time the GNR is sent to the property and check-in date arrives, does the property get the update? I'm presumming the act of checking in may get an update, but how about when the property pulls a list of guests in order to pre-block rooms?

I will have a similar prob

I will go from Gold to Plat soon and have an upcoming stay in Asia and this is how I plan to deal with it. Use that concierge service for a simple request, that will tell you if they have updated your status or will force them to do it

From my experience as a Guest it depends on what type of system the hotel uses internally and how it interfaces to MARSHA. When changing from Gold to Platinum myself the hotel I stayed at frequently at that time did not have me as Plat the very next day after the status changed, however acknowledged my new Plat-Status the following stay five days later - both booked before I became Plat and with no interference of mine. So obviously whatever in-house-system they use it is directly connected to MARSHA and updates status on existing reservation as they change within MARSHA.

And as said a colleague of mine had a totally different experience this year with being greeted as Gold even though he made Platinum three month' prior...

Greetings - Dirk

sorry if I wasn't clear - the status is always current and correct in MARSHA, when the GNR is downloaded by the local hotels system (typically 72 hours before arrival) the status in the hotel's system will reflect that status....I'm not sure exactly what you are referring to when you reference "when the property pulls a list of guests in order to pre-block rooms" as the property would only be working in their local system which would automatically have the GNR's because of the automatic download of all arrivals within the next 72 hours (different brands handle the exact timing slightly differently but the end result is the same)
