Just finished by third stay on Thursday.. The certificate I earned after the second stay was already added to my account. I will have my fourth and final stay of the promotion next week.

He did get lucky. I had a stay from 1/30-2/10. I did get 11 elite nights, but only 9 toward the Megabonus, which is exactly what I expected.

I could have sworn I signed up for the MegaBonus but I don't see it in My Promotions. I went to the site to check to see what # I was supposed to hit & was thinking of having it changed to the stay 2, get 1 night if I didn't think I was going to hit the # of nights. Even if I didn't sign up yet, according to a post above I have until 3/31/12 to do so. So why am I not seeing anything?

I did not see a progress meter until I actually had nights post. There was a link to the terms of the offer, though. Have you posted any nights since 2/1?

They appear to be offering the same deals as last fall; 20 nights, plus bonus for 25; 15 nights, plus bonus for 20; free night for every two stays. I got the 20/25 nights offer, changed to 15/20.

This was bugging me too. I finally got around to calling today and found out I was not registered for the promotion (nor was there anything online prompting me to sign up for it. The agent said this is happening to "a lot of people".

I'd suggest you call and see if you're registered. My bet is you're not.

I've had 5 paid nights since 2/1, although it shows me at 0. And those 5 paid nights were the ones that posted to my account as 1point/$ spent, not 10 points.

It will be tight on the 15, so I might get it changed to the free night certs.

Maximize bonus
 
Hi - I just had a thought and wondering if this is ok to do. My husband and I both have separate marriot accounts. News plan on taking our son to Orlando for 12 nights in November. Instead of booking under one account can we book our reservations alternating between the two of us so we can get the 3 free nights each and stay at the same hotel? Would marriot accommodate this? (We are also looking intro stay in the same room.). Is this bad etiquette trying to maximize their promotion. And will alternating checkouts and checking satisfy the requirement or definition of a "stay".

Yes, you can alternate your bookings to maximize the 3 free nights each. No it's not bad etiquette. You'll need to talk to the hotel upon arrival, though, to see if they'll let you stay in the same room since you'll be checking out/checking in each day.

I'd like to add that the best is to make sure that you pay and close the bill every day so that nothing can be messed up.

Yes, absolutely one must do this.

I see no reason why the hotel should not let one do this as they save on cleaning costs as a room occupied by the same couple does not need to be spotlesslly clean as if another guest were going to occupy it.

Yes and it's a very simple concept, however a lot of FD in Continental Europe will have a seriously hard time understand that.

I think this is what a FD thinks when someone proposed something like that to him/her:

'My job is to check people in and out, please don't bother me with these specific requests and I don't bother finding out how to deal with it.'

FD doesn't care by doing this the hotel will have less housekeeping cost.

I never dare to do this because:
a. they can mess the whole thing up by not knowing what to do, and then randomly link all the ressies together;
b. it probably take less time to check-out and back in than explaning a completely foreign concept to a FD.
