Courtesy MR Points

Had some issues with a stay at a Marriott last week and the Manager addressed them with offering to credit my MR acct with some courtesy points. My acct was credited with the regular stay points, but not the courtesy points.

Has this happened to anyone else....if so, how long before the courtesy points were credited to your acct?

Unfortunately, I've had that happen more tims than I'd like to admit. If you really want those points, you will probably need to call the property in question and talk with the management there and remind them of their "commitment". I suspect that most times this happens is because the manager who made the offer, didn't note it and just plain forgot. So a simple reminder may help get you those points.

Unfortunately, you may, once in a while, run into someone who offered you those points to get you out of their hair and really doesn't want to give them to you. In that case, you may have to work a little harder to get those points. If the "reminder" didn't work, I would escalate the issue both within the hotel management to the GM AND escalate to Marriott Customer Service. Let them know the issue. What was offered resolve to it and that you have "reminded" the local hotel management of their commitment, but that they aren't following through. Maybe customer service can help.

Thanks for the advice. He had sent me a followup email, which I just followed-up with thanking him.....we'll see. If not, I'll call the platinum line customer service.

points from a stay are automatically posted to your account...."courtesy" points are manually posted via 1 of 2 methods...hotels can log into the system and manually have them added (takes a few days for it to travel between systems before it actually posts) or hotels can submit a form (which of course takes longer)....unfortunately it seems as most hotels like using the form

Socrates, just a curiosity factor...when hotels give courtesy points, I am assuming they are charged for them?

Socrates will have an answer for sure. But I would guess the answer is yes hotels are charged for any points they assign/credit to members.

I would write an e-mail to the GM and if it doesn't work I'll contact MR CS.

I finally contacted Platinum customer service...had the points in my account within the hour and received call from hotel mgr. All is well....

I had some issues at a hotel recently and the GM promised me 60K points. They were credited within hours.

60k :confused: that's a ton of points. What did they do? Very unusual number.

I got stuck on an elevator 3 times. The last one almost for 10 mins after they had " fixed it" and told me it was safe to use.

wow, that's a lot of points for this ... unless you were stuck for a very long time. 60k is worth a lot IMO.

It was more than just that. It was a combination of factors that included false promises, employees caught lying about management, employees lying to management, etc. All over the course of one night

was this 60,000 the same that it would have taken to cover your stay?

If so, you basically got credited for your stay at no charge. So, it may not be an incredible amount of points ( if that's the case); the mgr. apparently thought your stay warranted basically a 'no charge'.
